Equipment update:
Just purchased the g10 irons, a new gap wedge, the daytona (55) putter and I've rented the r9 (62) driver and the r9 super-tri (73).
The irons are a definite upgrade. I was going to hold out for the tour burners, but it became untenable. I was just too short on half of the holes. Good purchase and I'm happy with them. I still intend to get the tour burners when they're available to me.
I picked up a105 yard ping wedge to fill the gap between the pw (115 yds) and a punched pw (97 yds), and that seems to be a good purchase too.
The putter is noticeably better but the different meter increments are not yet intuitive, so my line is better, but my distance control is worse. I expect that to get better with practice.
The drivers are a different story. I'm not really happy with either of them yet, mostly because I'm not hitting them well, but also because I'm not adapting to them well. I blame that on the sheer volume of new clubs I'm trying to learn concurrently.
I have to make a decision on the drivers today, or pay for another rental period, so any input on the benefits between the two is appreciated.
I have a question about "Accuracy" with the putters and it may be stupid. Does the higher accuracy actually enlarge the hole? When going back and forth between the spider (32) and the daytona (55) it appears that the hole is larger with the daytona, but it's hard to tell without them being side by side. Just curious if anyone knows the answer to that one.
