    b0geybuster:

I wrote this post to prove a point.   Of course the regulars come out.

Did you really read my post?   Or only the part at the beginning with the rant, and then continue on your own rant.

that was always going to happen lol.....it's the nature of forums :)

as for scores being decided by wgt before teeing off as a few have suggested, i think that's incorrect. sure when you play ctth there's a heartbeat sound if you're landing 10ft or closer.....so of course the game program knows your shot outcome to a range radius of 10ft....but that all down to the programming & shot equation.....i mean how else is the game going to work.

simple fact is that it's the human who presses the trigger and if it's within the ideal shot equation, then it'll land within 10ft of the hole.

of course there'll be days when the game goes for you and there'll be days where the game goes against you.....much like real golf actually.

in real life i constantly hit a wrong shot that will land 3 yards from the pin......was this a fluke...or was what i considered to be the wrong shot for that hole actually the correct one? who knows? I may think it was the wrong shot but a golf pro would have said it was the correct choice of club & shot spec because he knows better.

sometimes i hit what i believe is a perfect shot in real life only for it to land way short...or travel way past the pin......that's just golf for you.

you've got to take the good with the bad.

even the best tour pros who win opens and masters etc...will tell you after they've won, that although they had a great round, they left one or two birdies on the course and sometimes thought that double bogey had wrecked their chances.

so i think this game does try to replicate the real game scenarios the best a game can within the limits of programming.

the only thing we need do is to enjoy the round and hope any luck is good luck.

    tbe

    You guys kill me.

If you miss the ding all bets are off,

Can't say it enough. If you don't hear it, you missed it.  :-)

Not necessarily. I miss ding a lot and still post a good number at times including a 27 in last weeks unlimited 9 hole tournament. Your ability to hit ding 100% of the time is remarkable. I'm only good for dinging 20% of my shots on any given round, and not because the game is all screwed-up for me. It couldn't be better. Consistently dinging shots makes all the difference in shooting a sub-par round, or a non-sub-par round, that's for sure.

There is two ways too look at this.   Yes you can play well missing ding, we see it in the videos from bollox and sun.

They way i look at it as all bets are off, if you get a deviation on a mishit, is it really a deviation.   If you get a WTF, its cause you missed the ding.

many of the posts in the forums rant about WGT messing up their rounds, mishits and such, deviations, VEM(laughable), but they all fail to mention one thing.   The didn`t ding the shot.   So if it was 10 yds short, or 10 yds right, and you missed the ding, yep you guessed it, Miss the ding and all bets are off!

    Just saying,

    b0gey

Agreed Bogey. I did want to mention I have no problems with the game whatsoever as well. I also wanted to get your take on my first post. Not sure if you saw it.

"Doesn't the games shot randomness program increase in difficulty as the eagles and birdies keep falling in the cup?

I've started out making pars on any course and by the sixth or seventh hole, the ball starts holding the line better on dinged and missed dinged shots with the ball landing closer to the hole with better consistency.

Is this the program at work, or just a coincidence?"

Is there any validity to this theory?

I think its coincedence, or the fact that we bear down or get lazy.

To be honest I was -11 after 9, knew I only needed a few more birds to win the RG, coupled with OMG this is a career round, I choked.   Had nothing to do with WGT, 100% on me and my performance on the closing holes.

    Cheers,

I have always believed it does. Not because WGT is sitting on you and changing the game but because the tighter your game gets, the tighter THE game gets. The misses will hurt more. The tolerances for mistakes shrink and you're forced to play a more accurate game. This is where dinging becomes paramount, or at least missing smart, like 1 pixel or 2. Even then by missing that ding you bring anything into play and if you're scoring well late in the round I would bet those misses will hurt a lot more than the same miss earlier in the round.

So  what about my 10 ft putt last night that showed a slight left to right break up hill I set up for it, hit the DING and it misses 2 cup lengths on the left. What is that if not being in a bad VEM cycle. Never had a putt go the wrong way by that much.

This isn't a deviation-it's a missed read or bad speed on the roll. While the ding is king, dinging a shot doesn't guarantee you make it. Everything else has to be right.
