    AtlantaCoaster:
My Point is simply that it is frustrating and disappointing to me when other player(s) quit.

Heh, I agree AC and I apologize if you thought I was trying to argue with you. Quitting on the ninth isn't really the quitting that irks us, IMO. How about finding a random match, you get along with the guy, he friends you on the 5th and then abruptly discs on the 7th after a "Sorry, I gotta go-have a friend invite."  Unfriend that one, for sure. All is good.

Food for thought.  Although this has been bashed around for awhile.  If the round doesn't reflect ones ability, and we all have bad days, why quit.  Hence, ones average also does not always reflect ones ability.

Thus, if one is playing with friends, and doesn't plan to putt out the last hole, why not set it up as a practice round instead.

I listed one reason infinito,  getting an ace and getting no credit for it sucks!

also it would be my luck that i'd get my first double eagle in practice (vomit)

As long as the player(s) I'm playing with make it to the 9th tee, I'm cool.

It's their average and game, they can do whatever they want with it.   Dropping early on in the game due to a bad shot or a few bad holes is bad form, especially if it's the host of the game.

Bollox, the comment was not aimed at you all.  We all recognize your ability on this site.  My point is that we have the ability to set up a practice round.  Hence, one is not penalized for a bad round.  Conversely, if we have a great round, then we wish it were a ranked round.

Playing with friends is a time to try new shots in different situations.  Makes the round more interesting, and one can gain a better understanding for certain conditions.

I would also like to stress.  Playing solo in my opinion should be no different then playing in a multiplayer game.  One tackles a shot in his/her own way.  One should never be chastised or bullied to speed up play.   A player should be alowed to play at his/her own pace.  I for one can be one of the slowest players once I am on the green.  Reading putt, can be an art as well as a science. It takes time, especially if the break is subtle.

    Just my thoughts.

I know you were not singling me out infinito, I was just giving a hypothetical for why someone may setup a ranked vs practice game without planning to post their score 100% of the time.  I know that for me personally my 18 hole score when doing multiplayer  is a good 2 or more strokes higher than playing by myself.   If I'm by myself (and care about the round) I don't hit until I have the aimer exactly right, if that means going to check in zoom view vs standard view a number of times.   Multiplayer with nothing on the line I aim in the right general direction and fire away.  Another reason I don't often take my scores low is not being able to get into a rhythm.  4somes are often a few minutes at a time between shots and it can be tough to get on a dinging streak.

I have no objection to anyone taking as long as they want,  but if someone is taking an eternity on every shot I won't  be itching to get in another round with them!  Iconian and I will often cruise around 18 holes in 1 hour together, perfect!  So I usually find him if I'm lookin to play a round with someone.  and btw, when icon and I play we usually do high wind practice round, but our fair share of ranked as well.

One hour for 18 holes, is about right.  Generally when you tee off and see your ball land you already have an idea what your next shot is.  Green, is the time consuming part, at least for me.  As they say, drive for show, putt for dough.

Somedays for me, everything, seems  to be in slow motion.  But you know, I have learned actually allot over the last month so.  Which is excellent,  this is a great site, and I am addicted to real golf as with this simulation golf.  You know, amazing what you learn here you can actually apply on a real golf course.

    Interesting topic

It is indeed frustrating to see players bail out as soon as their rounds go south. Bailing out on the 9th is acceptable but still not ideal (my opinion).

In my opinion, the score should reflect your true self and golf should be played with golfiing standards. I suggested that WGT should add pro-rated scores to the average for people who bail out.

For people wanting to play carefree rounds, practice rounds is an option but for people who choose to play ranked rounds, it should not mean ranked rounds if it is a good round.

Just frustrating to start a game with a player whose level seems comparable in the hopes of having a competitive round and then see them bail out on the first easy birdie missed or first bogey.
