I just started a four man at St Andrews - I birdied the first - one of the four bogied and quit. A couple of wayward drives and poor approaches by the remaining players and by the time I am ready to putt on the second I am alone.
I understand that people have to quit when something crops up - even if they are having a bad game and say they just can't bear to continue then fair enough. But to all leave before the 2nd hole is completed without word is just plain rude.
Sometimes after a bad start coming from behind and finishing with a fairly good score can be very satisfying and you learn more about your golf and temperament than simply throwing the towel in cause of one bad shot.
