    Hello again,

once you're lucky to have passed the area of wayward shots, on approaching the green, there is another miracle.

Here (replay), at the front right corner of the green, the ball is on the fringe, 5 yds from the hole. I expected some restrictions due to the broad fringe and hit a 6 yds putt, only to end still outside the green, on fairway!

The picture suggests sth. different, but be assured that the starting position was "fringe" and the end position "fairway" - I double checked it.

Avoid that area whenever you can, it's been a problem since I began playing 3 years ago, with countless complains in the forums. Try chipping or pitching over the fringe because the grass is like glue there.

You're on the fairway there, not the fringe

Excuse me, the ground indication when hovering over the ball front right corner says "fringe" before the shot and "fairway" at the end (though the picture shows green then).

I went there repeatedly to check it - should I produce screen shots as a proof?

The bottom line is this, dude.... Avoid putting from the fringe...This game has always been a lil buggy when it comes to fringe putts, ESPECIALLY on relatively short ones..I know that putting those shots ususally seems like the obvious and safe choice, but not on this game..Wgt is aware of the issue, but apparently it's not real easy to fix...

Learn to chip those shots with your shortest wedge...It's not as scary as it seems...Using full backspin (when applicable) willl also help you control the run-out..

    --bear

ps..once you hole-out a few of those chip shots you will be addicted...

A good point mate! I had some of these, including some blind shots (camera position below putting surface).

And I realize that my aversion against chips has to be double-checked - a relict from the Starters wedges.

    Ty!

Been there, done that. You are right, it does say fringe and when you hit it it says fairway, happened to me once. here is the replay link to make it easier.

Those weird looking grassy areas in front of the greens are called the 'crud'. Their purposely cut the way they are to slow down the ball on chase shots. You happen to get caught-up in the crud while the game said you were on the fringe.

A punch or flop shot would have been the best play from that spot irregardless if you were on the fringe or not. Trying to putt through the crud will take at least 50% more feet of power.

No need to, I have had that area say "Fairway" before, and in behaves as such.  Maybe I should have explained further, but a chip is always the best option there (IMO).

    Cheers.

Richard, I've seen crud and experienced the results (OAK#1 comes into mind, quite impossible with Starters). This hole, BPB #13, also has a crud area, see the front green camera.

MB, there may be only a small patch of "fringe" - I only found it from the perspective view of my replay.

I never made up a connection between the crud and this patch of fringe - maybe this is the solution of this mystery :)

BTW, is crud a word known on real golf courses?
