Started Jan 26, 2012, currently at level 84. Current average is 65.83, became a Legend on March 20, 2012.
In no way have I mastered the game, especially considering the averages of the top Legends who've worked their way up gradually...all props are due them. I played lots of ranked rounds at St A, a very forgiving course from the shorter tees, where birdies are easily had (once you learn how to play in the wind) and one can attain the low averages required to move up the ladder.
I still play a lot of rounds at St A because I really enjoy the course, and I like the view from the tips. Have acquired the clubs I've wanted from the outset (gotta love the Cleveland wedges) including the high level Ping G20 woods and irons. Tried the level 79 TM Burners for a bit then sold them back, but I'm about to get them again because I think they're necessary for scoring on the other courses and I'm determined to learn how to adapt to the faster meter.
I play for the fun of it and for the challenge of mastering the game. I can't overstate the respect and admiration I have for those who've put in the time and effort to succeed at the highest level by playing all the courses regularly, taking notes, and otherwise refining and perfecting their game.
Maybe I'll get there some day, but I'll still enjoy the game even if I don't.
