  I can´t wait to get this course after the US open. 

  it´s not that hard for lower ranked players , par 34 back 9 , many will lower their scores here.

  getting a 61 avg, here is easier than any other course.

  I absolutely detested this course the first few times i played it , now i love it ( mostly ) .

  I struggled to make any sense of it to begin with , but thanks to a very helpful TL  who sent me an invite and gave me some tips  , i've managed to get a 61 in the qualifier , not great i know but a lot better than i had been doing .

  I have finally completed 18 holes in the qualifier for a hard fought 64. 6 birdies, 9 pars, 2 bogeys and 1 eagle (#2). Bogeys were on 15, from just off green below the hole (missed 5 footer uphill) and 17-  with 13 mph l/r crosswind, slightly late, from the bunker. Birdies all from 1 yard or less. I WORKED on this round. Felt good about 30 on the front side, given parred from the bunker on #3-almost impossible- minus 4 thru 4. Had legitimate birdie putts on 5 and 6 that just missed. Crosswinds all in the worst possible direction vis a vis trees or trouble.

  Pars all from less than 2 feet. MAN this course bites hard on the slightest miscue and believe me I have played it a lot - dozens and dozens of times in Stroke (mostly abandoned) and probably 50 plus times in AS. My hat is off to anyone who qualifies.

  I just tried Merrion for the first time.

  With the clubs I have it was just not possible to play.

  The Par 5s were out of reach - sometimes even after 5 shots I was short of the green (playing from Tournament Tees)

  Anyway - I think I will steer clear until I have better clubs and even just half a chance of making it around in under 100!

  You don't have to play it from those tees. You can set up your own round and play it from your tees.
