    Hi

Don't really know and maybe it is just me, but I find merion the hardest cource

    on WGT.

There are simply 5-6 holes, where I honestly don't feel at home.

Anybody else have the same feeling?

    Have a happy golfing.

I couldn't agree more mate. In fact the best thing I can find to say about it is...... it's a challenge ! Some people love it and to each their own and all that, but it's not for me thank you. I'm probably not good enough to appreciate it.

I agree.I can't even break par anymore. The more I play it the worst I get.The only thing that brings me back to try it some more is that in the first week I shot a 64 and a little later a 61.

Must be beginners luck,I just don't understand how I managed those score.I must of been blessed.

Still would like to qualify.I can dream can't I???

Merion's East Course is a great golf course. There is little to wonder about why it's a US Open venue.

It's not long, but it sure tests your course management and shot making skills.

The par 4 5th hole's green is diabolical.

I hate this course with a passion.  I start off birdie birdie.....then it all goes south.  I managed to take a -3 into the 10th hole and ended the round at +2.  I am still 15 strokes off of the cut line.  Holy hardness!

I know there are two holes that my TaylorMade R1 just barely makes it to the fairway.  If there is wind in my face, forget it.  You are in the weeds!

Last time through, going into 18 with a -1, and finish round with +2.  Can't hit the fairway from the tee box yet again.

I am pleased that a player of your quality said this, as I sure cannot play this course. I find myself all over the place yardage wise, the green speeds are off. Just played -3 included three 3 putts and 6 putts under 7 feet for birdie that I missed. I give up on this course, I have put it in the "too hard basket"

Merion has got to be my favorite course on WGT, and although if i hadn't missed an easy 5 foot birdie on 17 for a 53, It very hard to get a consistent round, there's always one or 2 spots which can de-rail your round in an instant.  But what I do like are the weeds!  Thats exactly how it should be 50/60% brush which will penalize you for any mistake or being too greedy so a birdie turns into bogey or worse!

As for #13, although Its says 134 yards, the hole is either on a downslope or the true yardage is well under the  134 yards.  if i have side wind, i can take this much off 135 iron full spin {...} and still land within a yard. I've even over shot the green with 135 iron in 17 mph HEADWIND! so best to shave a few yards off the 134.  If i have tailwind i will either use 120 PW with topspin, or take a lot off the 135 iron full spin.  With headwind i will use 135 iron with a touch above full spin but a touch under 3/4 spin and always get it bang on. But as for 15, i could play a shot now and land within a yard, but same shot next time will land short!  there seems to be no middle ground.

If you want a challenge then try Merion in uneven lies!  Those easy birdie holes like #7 become a struggle and you're more likely to par than birdie (same with 4)  Was a major fight just to score 59!  But I love Merion none of those billiard table bethpage style greens here

Good on you for solving the 60. Nice post.  Refreshing, even. :-)

As for the way you play #13, have you tried the 8i punch? All you use spin for is to offset the wind. The strongest wind I've seen on that hole so far is 13 helping-the bad kind of wind. With the 71Nike ball, fbs with about a 98% swing gets you a gimme. Mishits won't kill you even though those side putts are bears. I'm curious about how you find that shot there if you try it.
