So much for the March update, I guess we'll be expecting a BIG one in April.... :)

I don't quite understand the speed that some of the things come out at but I guess it depends on how many developers there are, surely a big job for just one.

Something like Multiplayer CTTH though, the format and all the programming is already in place for Stroke and just has to be transferred over to CTTH.  Now I know I make that sound really easy, more than it really is but it really isn't that difficult either.  Having a selectable timer at the beginning of a game really shouldn't be very difficult either and I know that IS in high demand around here (I like 90 for the most part)

I guess the time is being spent on bigger things higher on the list like new courses or   Up/Down/Side hill lies which I'm sure must eat up a TON of time but some of these little gems would go a long way too and keep some people quiet around here......LOL  yeah right.

    Hey Niv,

(Hopefully this fits well into the 'future updates' theme of this thread......)

Are you able to shed any light on the mechanics of the programming, or more importantly, the testing of new programming before new releases? Is there any possibility that the test environment is stealing server space or that the testing process is stealing efficiency from the live game servers? I'm assuming WGT has a mirror of the game client that you add the programming to and test before release but you know what they say about assuming.

Haven't necessarily noticed a trend of higher complaints around the advertised release dates or anything, just a curiosity thing!

I'm no longer expecting anything, this is just too sad.    Maybe, just maybe, they'll give us an update on the evening of April Fools' Day, because there's been a recent trend of releasing updates on Thursdays.

I've postponed buying any equipment for the time being. It's just too risky, if superior equipment might become available a few days after you spend dozens of dollars for obsolete equipment. I guess WGT isn't really all that interested in getting those dozens of dollars from me (and many others), unwilling or unable as they are to give us at least a rough idea of when to expect the next product release.

We're stumbling on in darkness here, so I guess I'll just continue playing from Master tees with Pro equipment, until the next release is published, which might be in May or June for all we know.

(sigh). I miss the old days when you were a soft touch for a sleeve of balls betting on updates.   ;-)

I don't blame you one bit and know your frustration well as I was in that exact spot before, turned out they released the DAYTONA and boy I am glad I waited, great putter and I like the slower meter.

When they realized there was no March update a tip off would have been nice for sure.

Hey JJ... apparently you missed this note from WGTNiv.. in it he explains in detail why there is not now, nor has there ever been a schedule monthly release update.  Although some still cling to the notion that this was the case previously, he clearly states that it was not.

    Hope this helps.  =)

    WGTniv:

    Hey everybody,

Just wanted to clarify a few things...

There is no scheduled monthly release cycle.  For a while it may have seemed that way, but there isn't a predetermined schedule.  The next update is supposed to release 30-60 days from the date of the last update.  Why the 30 day window?  That lets us be sure that nothing is getting rushed out without being ready because of a pre-planned "schedule".  We feel folks would be much more upset if we forced a very buggy update out just because it's been "30 days."  We will release updates only when we feel they are ready for the big league (you guys) and in certain instances when any contractual obligations (if there are any) have been met.  We'll also hold back any features that aren't making the grade.  30-60 days is the general idea so you guys at least have a reference point, but it's never set in stone and should only be considered tentative at best.

Update "speed" is a relative thing.  We could pump out 12 monthly updates with little to no new offerings between them that are full of bugs that compound each other.  We could also do 9 or 10 updates, each offering a larger quantity of new goodies, more old bug fixes and less new bugs.  Given the choice, I'd think the latter is best for everyone in the long run.

I can appreciate the want to take a stab at what's out there and what's down the pipe.  However, please keep in mind that guessing randomly at what's next may be actually be doing a disservice to fellow players who might see your post and assume what you said is true, thus creating a false expectation.  Feel free to speculate away, it's fun, but please try to keep it within reason.

    Enjoy the Weekend! =)

Thanks Snaike, I did catch that before.

I guess its the rock and hard place, as a user it is frustrating being left in the dark.

You know, we are all mostly on WGT's case and yanking their chain most times but I have to say I am quite excited about many things on the Roadmap and some are downright gamechangers!   All of them are great but I highlighted the ones I am really looking forward to.

Hope some of these make it on the "Coming soon" section soon because as of now none of them can be expected by the end of April or maybe not even May  :(

    Coming Soon (30-60 days)

    • Match play improvements
    • New awards
    • New clubs & avatars
    • Ability to create and join groups

    Roadmap Features

    • Ability to save and share scorecards
    • Private tournaments - set up your own tournaments
    • St Andrews Back 9 stroke play course
    • More pin placements on St Andrews
    • Player reputation
    • The Challenge at Lanai closest-to-the-hole course
    • Multiplayer closest-to-the-hole game format
    • Leaderboards for game statistics
    • Shot-shaping and stance controls
    • Up/Down/Side hill lies
    • Handicap system

extra emphasis on the handicap system and here's hoping we will have some handicap tourney's!  (and that handicap will be based mostly or ALL on tournaments to help curb sandbagging)

I agree with Faterson and jayjon (hope I got those spelled right).  It is very frustrating that there is not more information forthcoming from this company to it's golf (and dare I say, paying) community, specifically regarding equipment issues.  If you don't know what I am talking about, then scroll up as I am not here to regurgitate those points.

I understand that at the end of the proverbial day, WGT is a capitalist enterprise in the pursuit of maximizing it's profits.  However, what I find hard to swallow is the double speak that comes out of the the mouths of the company spokespeople on here.

Now before I get jumped on for what I just wrote let me first say that I really like this game and I appreciate all the work, not only from a information technology standpoint that went into this game, because it truly is one of the most real virtual golf games out there, but also the back office stuff that eventually led to to WGT securing a huge financial partner in the USGA. Kudos to WGT's entrepreneurship drive.  Your hard word and tenacious efforts in forging these partnerships, hopefully will improve the playing experiences of the WGT members.

However, I would be remiss if I did not point out that there has been a lot of talk by the aforementioned "WGT'ers" about proper gamesmanship and upholding the virtues of the great game of golf.  Is it therefore not somewhat hypocritical to not act in a transparent way to your paying customers about upcoming product information?  In the "spirit of the game"? Faterson is right.  How is he supposed to plunk down the cash, which in a roundabout way WGT would force him to do, because of his improved ability which automatically bumped him up from his previous tier thereby rendering his current equipment practically obsolete.

I cannot speak for others but my objective in this game was not to reach the Master tier level.  But, it is hard to not want to make birdies and eagles.   It just happened, and then life as I knew it changed forever.  The 30 bucks I had spent on the that set of clubs left with me the same feeling as if I had just been screwed over.

I don't blame Faterson for not succumbing to the lures of WGT.  As a matter of fact I admire him for sticking to his guns and raising this utmost important issue.

I know there is no easy way for the WGT brass to deal with this.  I thought that the idea of renting clubs was fabulous, and I used that a lot before finally settling on the kit that I have now.  However, unless teasers, or what not can be provided, then I truly believe that a more equitable value be given when one sells back their obsolete equipment.

To profit from the game of golf, one should uphold it's virtues.  Failing to do so merely coaxes vexation from the golf gods.
