A couple of people wanted courses with elevation changes. Here are a couple of doozies:
Mountain Air CC in Burnsville, NC - IT has a 250 yard par 3 that a 6 iron will fly the green (150+ ft drop and the cart path looks like a road in the swiss alps), a 500+ yard par 4 with about a 300 foot vertical drop. The course sits on a mountaintop overlooking Mount Mitchell. If you hit over the 7th green your ball will be demolished after about a 2000 vertical drop down a steep hill. This is the only scorecard that I've evr seen that lists the elevation change on each hole.
Another NC course, Tobacco Road - Stevie Wonder would love this course: blind tee shots, blind approaches, blind sand shots, blind chips, blind putts! The course is crazy.
And a more traditional old style course, Oakland Hills "The Monster". I've had the opportunity to play there about a dozen times and it has some of the most sinister greens that there are and some really hilly holes. The 17th is the hardest par 3 I've ever played and the 16th is one of the prettiest and most historic.
