Yeah, but I guess they don't want to make the game too "easy" by giving too much extra distance.

An extra 800 credits for a dot of forgiveness seems a bit steep. In the same breathe though I'm sure they will sell many of them the same way most of us pay 450cr for the same sleeve of balls that were expensive when they came out.

Hell, if that extra dot is noticeable, I'll be getting 1 myself...

Im playing it now. Will post a review in  a few hours.

Initial impression is that if you currently  own the r11  you can pay 24.95 for a black headed one.

So far havent seen any difference other than color so far.

Just bought it and finished my first round. As RUN said, can't really tell the difference, I'm still crap off the tee. :-) Tough to judge from 1 round though, so will keep trying.

Just finished playing a stroker with the new R11 S  driver...hmmm nothing really noticable at all compared to the R11 except that i paid $24.95 for a club with 2 yards extra distance and has a full dot of forgivness...but as PB1711 said it was only my first game so will continue to see how it plays out....ohh BTW i played a buddy of mine and he currently owns the R11 and shoots from the legend tee as myself and in a competition to see who can out drive who with no spin added and a DINGED shot i did get about 3ft avg further than him lol so if thats a difference than ..i guess its up to u ..Hitem well!

It says the extra distance over the original R11 is 2 yards but you wont be disappointed, I noticed a good 5 yards further into the rough over 18 holes......

Meh.... Its a couple yards longer  on paper though the old r11 keeps up decently.  Playing matchplay with a friend we teed off bp10  and restarted 10 times. 7 times the new one was longer 3 times the old one was longer but not by much either way.

The meter seems the same  and stats show  it is more forgiving on misshits though on shaped  shots around trees like bp2 or 5 & 10 on olympic it reacted about the same as old r11.  As I get used to it and learn the best spin to apply to it off the teebox perhaps it will have more of noticeable advantage over the old one.

Driver distance wasn't an area that was lacking on wgt so suppose this was a better baby step than bringing out one 10yrds longer. If you got extra credits burning hole in pocket , get it, otherwise keep your old r11. Not missing out on much.

    A matching 3w would be nice :D

Had 3 rounds with it, it is longer compared to my old r11, the forgiveness for me is good and a few mistimed drives found the fairway that before would have hit the rough, I use the non legend Callies and was thinking of upgrading to the Nikes, bought the driver instead as will pay for itself in a month or two and sticking with the cheaper Callies.

As Tiffer says 4-5 yds is nearer the mark IMO.

I say this as one of the many players who have merrily bought everything going on WGT immediately on release, so perhaps it's a bit hypocritical.

Yes compared to going to the pub, cinema, restaurant etc this is cheap entertainment. Is it cheap entertainment when you are comparing apples with apples though? How does the game compare to the likes of playing the Call of Duty franchise of games?

If you are starting the game now and working towards ending up with the best of equipment, upgrading along the way to be competitive, this game will see you shell out 20,000 credits til you get there. That is purely on equipment, god knows how much you'll spend on balls.

Call of Duty will cost you £40 in the UK and if there's 5 or 6 titles then you're up at the same cost without the ongoing cost of having to purchase bullets (balls). This game most definitely is not cheap entertainment when comparing it to a similar video game experience.

Why do we do it? One thing......this game somehow manages to maintain your interest in a way that call of Duty does for about a week. And that is why WGT have us all by the short and curlies, willing to pay over the top prices continually.

    Tomacco anyone?

1 way to look at it i suppose is this: if you already own the R11, and you buy the new R11S, you will probably sell your old 1. I think its a quarter of the price you get back, so that would be 400 odd creds. You have bought the new 1 at 2400 odd creds, so you are really spending 2000 creds on 2 extra yards, and 1 dot of forgiveness. Way too pricey in my book.
