tight fairway or high wind course

Olympic has tight fairways and with heavy winds I would imagine it qualifies as a course where you could use that little extra Icon alluded to.

Of course you could use it Jim but it's not necessary. How about the game getting back to the player's ability to effectively judge the wind and then executing the required shot, rather than having clubs that help you get away with it when you don't?

I recently got the R11 as got the irons and G20's mismatched meter wasn't cutting it. The R11 is much less forgiving than the G20 and I started noticing mishits into wind (even slight), mostly negated wind, a big problem on tight driving holes (Olympic being prime example).

Its not about the added yardage so much as having a VERY forgiving driver that is longer than anything else on here. It IS worth it to me to hit more fairways and at times the distance will also come in handy.

The existing driver has been good enough for hundreds of top players, probably thousands of players,

Yes, but fairways get real tight for level 90 TP's, should come in handy for them.

How else are you going to fill all those dots up? Empty dots=potential earnings. IMO, they sufficiently filled up an entire dot for $25 a pop without making a ridiculous new club, not to mention appeasing TM.

FWIW, as an atrocious driver myself, the forgiveness does help. I'm not as atrocious as I was.  ;-)

The R11 seemed to accelerate right at the end. the R11s stays smoother through the entire meter travel.

This is the 1st thing I noticed. I've been waiting awhile to buy something new, so this will have to do. I like it so far.

Oh I know why they've done it Jim, leaving clubs the way they are doesn't produce a 2-3 days earnings hit like they will get today and over the weekend. I just feel it makes the game less challenging and leads to boredom.

I'm not saying I am now so good at this game that the clubs mean I shoot sub 60s at will, I just find it difficult to be as focused as I used to. There's very few things left that motivate me to concentrate and apply the mind to the game that I used to. The recent matchplay tourney was one I really enjoyed, the US and British Opens will be the same, in between the fun just isn't there.

It may just be I've played myself to this position but I think the clubs and the balls now at our mercy make a substantial contribution to my malaise. To be fair to myself, I have been saying this consistently since the Burners were released.....

I asked this question in a related thread:

I'm maybe 7 weeks to a couple of months away from level 90 and was planning on getting the R11 full set.  Now I'm not sure if that's such a good idea, since I'll probably turn right around and sell back the R11 driver in order to get the R11s.  Almost seems like a waste of credits, but I don't know how else to do it.

I don't really have a use for a hybrid, so am I better off to buy the R11s driver and R11 3-wood separately, then buy the iron set?  In other words, forget about getting the full set?

edit:  Did some figuring, and if I get the R11s driver, R11 3-wood, and iron set separately, cost is 6185.  Full set (with the regular R11 driver and a hybrid) is 4995, then I could just sell back the driver and the hybrid for what, about 675 credits?

So it looks like the better move is to not get the full set if I'm planning on upgrading the driver.
