    I'm playing in a company/charity event in two weeks which is going to be a night golf event.

    Spoken to a few people and none of them have participated in such a thing.

    I understand that the fairways and greens will have lighting and we will play with a glow in the dark ball of sorts. Other than that, I know nothing.

    Has anyone here tried it?

    I'm very excited about the idea.

    I have done night-golf once, very very interesting to say the least.   But it was fun,  a bunch of drunken golfers with glow rings for necklaces so we knew when players where in our way.  The golf balls suck,  they are clear golf balls with a hole drilled through the center for a miniature chem-lite to go in and the only other light was a chem-lite attached to the flagstick.  I'm interested in hearing how your outing goes.

    The tee boxes where marked with the chem-lites too.   It was a debacle for sure, but very fun.

    If this is how yours is set up, then make sure you bring a marker so you can write your name on your golf ball.  My outing, everyone had the same color glow ball and one of the problems was finding your own ball lol.

    I did it twice - big fun!

    There are different types of balls, we had those shown here. They are like stones, flying much shorter with the irons.

    Be careful to turn the bore at right angle for each shot, otherwise ball and light may separate - you'll find the light only.

    The balls gloom well out of the rough, alas the event should be at new moon - any surrounding light will make it more difficult.

    some ppl can hit the ball as well as in daylight, others struggle a lot. Overall, it's big fun if you have some knowledge of the course! It's awesome to see the ball flight similar to the vapour trail here.

    I've heard you can get "kicked out of college" for this...

    @Timbo,

    We have a 18 hole golf course here in Carlyle that is completely lit-up with tall street lights throughout the whole course. You can see the tee-boxes and greens like it was day time. I guess I need to mention it's only a par 3 course. The regular full length, par 72 course is not lighted.

    If your course is lit-up like this one, you shouldn't have any problems seeing the ball. Its different, but you should get used to the night time feel after a few holes.

    GL Timbo. And remember, it's all about the charity and having fun. : )
