there is nothing like merion 5 , I couldnt care less where I end up, I get a bogey.

spin to stop right of the flag and it rolls back , the putt will end up rolling around the hole 360 , just to hear a slight laugh at me. it´s cursed !

I will take my bogey there and be ok with it.

Hello "siggipj76".......I have a suggestion for you on MERION Hole #5 that might be helpful to you.  Well...I agree, it's nearly impossible to PAR this hole (I have made a couple lucky Birdies).

But, what I do is.....I hit my approach shot to just SHORT of the green.  To the lowest part of the green if possible.  Just move the "target" to where you wish your approach shot to land...aim there.

Then....using "full backspin".....hit a FLOP shot to just above the hole.  Many times, I have been able to put a FLOP shot to within 2 to 5 feet of the hole....then, well, yes....it can be a HARD BREAKING putt.....just takes practice to sink those putts.

I think going for the GREEN with the approach shot just won't work on this hole.  I sort of believe that there is a BEST way to go after EVERY WGT hole.

    GOOD LUCK!

    Bob

On Merion 5 the mistake I made for too long was trying to get the perfect approach and leaving it long and/or high. Now I just try to leave it below the hole, to get the par and the hell out of there.

Any of them when I forget to check which club my moronic, short sighted, sh*t for brains computer caddy gives me and sail 20 yards/feet past the hole.

Rookie mistake I know, but Hell it's infuriating when it happens. And always seems to occur when I've hit the snap bang on, perfect aim and with exactly the percentage swing I was looking for.

Hardest hole? Hmm, tricky question but I'd say the 19th. I always come up a dollar short.

BPB 15 is par for sure 50% birdie

Yes but for you (58.41 average) every hole is a birdie hole :P.  Meanwhile I with starter clubs can't even hit Bethpage's 15th green in regulation 90% of the time, hence it's one of the harder holes for me.

But the real title of hardest hole in this game should probably go to one of the par 5's that are mislabelled as par 4's in this game:

    Bethpage 7

    Oakmont 9

    Congressional 11

    Olympic 1

Honourable mention goes to Merion 18 despite being an actual par 4, because the forward tees aren't used in this game at lower tiers, there's a forced carry that can screw you over if there's a headwind, and even if you have premium equipment it's still most likely a long iron 2nd shot.

Gotta be Merion 5, ive played it from back tee in2 headwind, 2 long hits & a brute of a green that i wouldnt concede a putt on from a foot away :-)
