After playing a hundred or so WGT rounds at Kiawah Island , it is really nice to see the actual course live on TV at the PGA Championship. I dont even need the graphic or the commentator on the broadcast to let me know what hole it is showing. #4 is a total beast. #17 is a truly frightening tee shot. Great to see the very best golfers in the the world test their A game out on this course.

Yeah....17 is brutal at 235ish and a 30mph crosswind.  The course is eating some of them up, but in general those guys are so ridiculously good.

When they run one off the green (#3 is coming to mind), and just throw it up there at mach2, let it take two skips, and stop it dead when it looked like it was off the other side....is just amazing.

I've played Kiawah in real golf about 15 times over the years starting in 1993.

WGT did a great job on it, when you get to see it on TV or in real golf, it really does look and play like it does on here.  It is amazing to see how far some of the pros are hitting it off the tee.  I think that McIlroy hit his tee shot on the 6th hole today within about 110 yards of the green, had to be 360 off the tee.

It's fun to see the pros have the same problems that we do on the course, four is tough to play for them as is the 9th hole.  Hope they stretch it out a little tomorrow and get a good wind off the water again.

Agreed. Really adds to the viewing enjoyment to be so familiar with the course.  When McIlroy's drive on #3 got caught in the tree I was thinking, "I know that tree..."  Too bad they had to suspend play early.  Looking forward to a great day of golf tomorrow - hope they get it all in

    .

Envious :)  Would love to play it IRL, too

It also shows WGT that scoring 53 or 54 on Kiawah is unrealistic. Yet it happens everyday on this game. Its something that should be looked at.

You said it yourself... this is a game. There's nothing to BE looked at.

Here we only have a couple of variables to factor in for every shot. If you can do some simple math, have decent timing and hand-eye coordination, and manage to avoid the necessary built-in deviations you can shoot ridiculously low.

Real life has a myriad of variables( just in course conditions) that will affect the outcome of any shot. Then figure in the human variables like adrenalin, anger, frustration, setup, etc. Your avatar never gets excited, never gets mad, always addresses the ball perfectly and has a 100% repeatable swing with every single club in the bag.

We play on near-perfect representations of the course... and that's where the realism effectively ends.

I want to see the post after somebody sticks their ball in the branch like he did today. LOL

Question on #2-I didn't see the path that crosses the fairway just in front of the landing area (here.) Has that been changed?
