It also shows WGT that scoring 53 or 54 on Kiawah is unrealistic. Yet it happens everyday on this game. Its something that should be looked at.
You said it yourself... this is a game. There's nothing to BE looked at.
Here we only have a couple of variables to factor in for every shot. If you can do some simple math, have decent timing and hand-eye coordination, and manage to avoid the necessary built-in deviations you can shoot ridiculously low.
Real life has a myriad of variables( just in course conditions) that will affect the outcome of any shot. Then figure in the human variables like adrenalin, anger, frustration, setup, etc. Your avatar never gets excited, never gets mad, always addresses the ball perfectly and has a 100% repeatable swing with every single club in the bag.
We play on near-perfect representations of the course... and that's where the realism effectively ends.
Valid points across the board, Jeffdos
However, the Callaway and Nike balls defy the general laws of physics. It is not possible to land a 220 yard approach shot inside a hula hoop. Yet, it is an everyday, ho-hum shot here on WGT. That is the point where WGT becomes a scam because they will take your money ($1.33 per Nike ball) and give you something that is so far removed from reality that it insults the average mans intelligence.
I just want the fantasy part of the game to be removed. I think WGT is a good enough product without it.
LL,
Play with the free ball and realistic game play is instant.. The scores of others shouldn't have any effect on your own enjoyment of this game. Do your own thing and have fun. :-)
Judge Smails: CerinoDevito, how do you measure yourself with other golfers?
CerinoDevito: By height.
lol... :-)
No seriously, play a couple of practice rounds with the free ball. It's a sobering experience and your scores will be realistic. Bust out the free clubs and putter if you really want to go old school. ;-)
