Round 1 :  Tony edges out Steve in extra holes but I made him work his butt off for the win!  Excellent game Tony...GL the rest of the way.

Wow what a match I've just had with Steve, totally bonkers and so much fun.  Bless him though, I think he went through a couple of clothes as he said he was sweating pretty bad lmao.  Where do we begin.  I guess firstly I gotta give massive kudos to Steve's game, totally brilliant and gave me some serious scares.

I took a 1 up lead on 1 with bird, Steve unfortunately just missed the cup from long range.  On two Steve had a nice tidy birdie from close range, then rather annoyingly from 5 foot under that cup I had a meter skip and pushed it way right, so we went back to level.  Next 4 holes we traded blows with a host of birdies, Steve was knocking every pin down and nailing every putt to put some real pressure on me.  He was obviously really on his game at this point once he settled down.  On the 16th he played a delightful shot from around 170 im guessing which tucked up 5 feet under the pin.  Putting a little pressure on my next shot,  I tugged one left and left a 13 footer across the break which I lipped out on the lower side...Steve goes 1 up.  17th we both played soild tees and took birds.  Then more drama, Steve tugged his drive into the left rough and played a very nice shot from 40/50 round just on to the rough in front of green for easy chip.  From the middle of the fairway with 82 to go and a 10 tail wind, I stepped up with my 60deg wedge with a few pixels of TS and rolled her in for a holeout fairway eagle to take us back to all square with the prospect of SD,.

So on to SD we go.  Steve plays his approach 10 long and I almost make it back to back holeout eagles from 194yds as I lip around the edge and leave it inches from the hole.  In all honesty, I thought that might have been enough as Steve had a tricky breaker down the hill, but true to the rest of his round he nails one dead centre to halve the hole with birds :)

Next SD hole, a 7mph wind that didnt play one bit from 134 left us both 10 foot long behind the pin with that tricky misreading downhiller.  I putted first and got my birdie, unfortunately for Steve huis didnt take the break and missed on the high side.  So in a totally thrilling match with some truly remarkable golf from my opponent, I managed to shake him off after 2 SD holes.  Brilliant match.

Great game Stu,  we were about as even out there as possible, with stu making birdie on the 18th with AS score, and me missing a 3.2 foot heavy right to left sloper on the low side,  a great match and good sportmanship as usual.    Good luck in round 2 Stu!

I also forgot to grab the card, but verify Briggs 1up over Buford.

Only just got online after a manic one with it being my daughter's first day at her new school. Week 11 should go live soon and I'll try to get Week 9 closed as well.

A few people noticed my mistake of not sharing the results master for the MP tourney so this has been updated as well.

Well done to all the winners so far and many thanks to those who didn't make it through for competing. There are already three second round pairings in place so please go ahead and arrange your R2 matches to keep everything running smoothly.

There's been no huge upsets so far but Tom's (TDHarvey) win over Justinee was an excellent result and in the big Italian battle, Ale (Starsandros) managed to sneak the win over Simo (Simovoice).

just played zant and got well beaten 3&2. nice round very good player and guy.

i do think it is a bit of a disadvantage playing on champ greens. some of the breaks were slightly more than i was used to. but having said that it would have made no difference to the result in this match but it might in others. thx zant enjoyed it.

I think in future the legend v tour legend green speed needs to be looked at. it was a clear disadvantage it took me 3 or 4 greens to get used to them by this time i was to far behind against a player of zants quality. its different to when legends play tour masters because you can practice tourney greens but you cant practice champ greens. as i said i dont think it would have made a difference to my result and this is by no means sour grapes. i think the result would have been the same but a lot closer.

Appreciate your comments Terry but I'd say that most people have had enough exposure to championship greens to have a fair idea of how they run. I don't doubt that the TL's have a small advantage given they play on them for every ranked round but I wouldn't say it was so dramatic that it necessitated a rule change for this tourney. I'll keep it in mind for future MP tourneys (if I recover from running this tour that is ;) ).

Bigsaur-Eggiesworld, thank u for the match and well played mate. Eggies was unlucky on a couple of approaches but played very well in most of the holes. I played the best I could and missed just a couple of shots, despite this risked to loose every hole ;)

    Jolexi beat Gehl13 1up.

Great game and to be honest when he put his 1st hole approach close and drained it Ithought, "here we go, gonna get it handed to me". But I dug in and, to be honest, I let him off twice when 1up. He squared it but I managed to clinch it on the last......enjoyed it and chuffed to bits to get past an obviously great player.
