I am only a couple of holes in but it looks like a 30% green mod.

For every inch of incline or decline add or subtract one foot on the distance and then take off 30%.

    Seems pretty close.

incredibly difficult greens with seemingly no consistency within the same 10 ft of grass...       one shot rockets then next shot falls short..     seems very buggy and not an accurate representation of physics nor gravity.

Oakmont is not ready and either is this site.

It might be ok in single play, but I just played two 9's in match play challenge and the loading was so slow it took 1 hour and 45 minutes per 9 holes....only to time out  both rounds ...2nd round was timed out on the first playoff hole after an unbelievably brutally slow round that I just wanted to end.  The match ended due to a timeout issue that I couldn't recover from in the 5 minutes they allow you.  That was nice to have it end that way in a playoff after suffering through almost 2 hours of brutaltity.  I was  already was not happy with this horrible site after not being able to log in for over two weeks due to some network glitch where a lot of people could not log in.

I am finally able to log in and actually get to play the back 9 to St. Andrews for the first time....and now Oakmont....only to find out this site site is even slower and has more meter glitches than I remember.

I'll check back in a few months and see if there is any more improvement on the playability.....that should be the WGT's  top concern.  They have a very long way to go.

There is a reason this is "STILL" considered beta mode.

No problems here, Oakmont plays great for me. Thank you WGT!

serious question....if the initial idea of putting this new course on a related website was to encourage new users, what will this target market think of WGT if they play Oakmont Qualifier ? Is this strategy really trying to grow the membership ? Of course all present users will say "great challenge" "love it" "hard greens" etc, but how big a percentage of first time users will just give up when they shoot 120 ?

p.s. Just carded +10 first time out, and enjoyed every bewildering moment of it haha

76 for my first round. Great fun but those greens should carry a government health warning.

...Too long, too fast, and to much fun! The course is absolutely beautiful. I agree however with a few of the other posters. It seems there is some inconsistencies, along with some mapping issues on the greens. Also, I thought the spin factor was non-existent. I'm using a Tour-SD ball, and it wouldn't bite at all. I feel sorry for the members who have to play with a starter ball only.  : )

Anyone know what the cut line is, or the qualifying number?

After you finish a round it will tell you the cut line

    Early days yet though.

The greens are awesome! Ive had the opportunity to putt US Open greens and this is exactly what its like. If you dont pound the ball to the back of the cup, you have to 'curl' the ball in (which is more difficult).

and the Church Pews, stay the hell out of that rough, nasty nasty stuff.

Richard, the cut line is currently 86, but, amazingly, I managed to shoot within. Although, if last year is anything to go by, the cut line will be 70 by the US Open comes round.

You're also right about the Starter clubs and balls. Seeing as the only non-Starter I have is a putter (the Anser if I remember rightly), which was gifted to me, the round was torture. Fun torture, mind.

From what I hear, maybe Fluffton could gift me some new Pro clubs?
