    Love the course, especially the hard conditions. Good to see the scores from day 1 stay in the 60's. Great job WGT, enjoying the challenge!

    This course is amazing...and it's actually a relatively fair course compared to St. Andrews, where you can't even reach the fairway if you're use default clubs and putting is absolutely a nightmare there. It's even more fair than Bethpage because whne Bethpage hosted the Virtual US Open last year, you almost can't reach any par 4's in 2 when using default clubs.

    Cannot wait until the tournament has finished. WGT have ruined a great course with the ridiculous putting.

    I love the course. The greens on tournament setting are quite evil, and take a bit of adjusting to.

    I just played it for the first time, and stunned myself, coming away with a one under score of 69. Without the 4 very unnecessary bogey's, it could have been so much better too.

    Started the round with a birdie, and in fact so near to an eagle, after hitting the flagstick with the 2nd shot.

    I can only dream of one day getting close to that score on Bethpage Black. lol

    Here's a few early tips for starter/default equipment users:

    Do not land SHORT of the green on Hole 1 and Hole 10. You'll be lucky if your chip shot lands within 15 feet of the hole.

    Also, DO NOT attack the pin on Hole 11 if you use starter clubs. Almost a guaranteed bogey or worse if you land in the bunker.

    Also, DEFINITELY DO attack the pin on Holes 2 and 9, or else you're guaranteed a 3-putt.

    the whole game is sick. Where does a pro hit a driver only 230 yards on an EXCELLENT drive? You should be able to hit your second into the green. This site is a joke. Piece of garbage.

    Well it's certainly an interesting course, that's for sure.

    It can't hold a candle to St. Andrews though. That course has a lot of variation in both fairways and greens. And the scenery is definitely a lot more interesting.

    At Oakmont it's just fairly easy, straight fairways (be it quite long, too long if you don't have the best clubs) and ridiculously hard greens. I don't think I'll ever make par on this course, which I can do at St. Andrews.

    They might as well have left out the fairways, because it's just about the putting anyway ;)

    SO.....Players in the QUALIFYING ROUNDS....

    <cue dramatic music crescendo and intone evil cackling laugh>

    HAVE YOU SEEN YOUR OWN AVERAGE LATELY?

    <BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAAAAA!!!>

    My own average is UP to a 71.xx  - A full six strokes ABOVE where it was (65.xx) at 6 AM EST on June 1 before I touched either of the "Tournament Conditions" Courses.

    THIS DAMAGE DOES NOT CONCERN ME.

    It will surely come back into line as I adjust and learn those courses..  It is the price we pay for:

    A)  Tournament Conditions on St. Andrews - still a newer course particularly the Back 9;

    B)  Tournament conditions on an UNKNOWN Course (Oakmont)

    I had a Match Play Game this morning (NOT a Challenge) with a WGT Member who said "My are you struggling?  WHAT HAPPENED TO YOUR AVERAGE?"  I took it in stride and explained as above.

    THIS RAISES AN INTERESTING QUESTION.....

    Does this ACCURATELY REFLECT MY ABILITIES ON WGT?  I would say that YES at the moment it does.  I have recorded EVERY SCORE - and even though it includes the newer "Tournament Conditions" courses,, averaged out - it is fair.....(I had some 79-80-81 types of scores on Oakmont yesterday.)

    Again - it will even out with time....BUT....does this average reflect my abilities on ANY ONE COURSE?  This is one of those situations where NO - it does not.

    The 71 is TOO HIGH for my abilities on KIAWAH and BETHPAGE which would rightfully each be around 66.   I'll guesstimate my current abilities on St. Andrews to be about 67-68 owing to a still lack of familiarity and comfort with the BACK 9.

    BUT....71 is far too low to indicate my abilities on Oakmont - which SHOULD rightfully probably be about a 75.  (I did - Miracle of Miracles - hit a 70 earlier today).

    The CURRENT AVERAGE that my profile shows could almost even be MISinterpreted as a sandbag....though there will be dozens (hundreds? thousands?) of us in this same situation throughout June.

    SO IT IS THE SAME OLD BASIC "NUTS AND BOLTS THEORY" - DON'T CONSUME YOURSELF WITH WORRY OVER THE AVERAGE.  THROUGH REPEATED PRACTICE AND PLAY IT TAKES CARE OF ITSELF.

    I just thought this was one of those odd "snapshot" moments I would document and throw out there for comments.

    Regards,  AtlantaCoaster

    My avg is certainly up as well.

    But, having a low average never won me any credits or tournaments, so the avg is just a number.   As long as I keep profiting off of the Ready Go's and winning the majority of MPC (on the rare occasion that I play them), that's really all that counts for me.
