Unfortunately for many TL their pretty average is more important then anything else. as well as the "Tour Legend" status. Of course scoring a 66 or 70 with UL will have an effect on their average and they just don't want to see that.

As George pointed, the 58 submitted is unrealistic for a Major, but TOUR PRO´S DO NOT HAVE UNLIMITED ROUNDS like we have here do they?, probably from all the scores the 20% was over 60, 50% was over 70 and 30& was over 80 or more. Whether this scores mirror any Pro Mayor is not so relevant in my opinion, the thing is that, not even with unlimited rounds people scored close to 50, as it always happens in any WGT Open or Invitational with unlimited first rounds.

For the very first time in WGT history you need it to PLAN your shot to fairway in order to find the best spot for the next shot, and for the very first time you need it to avoid rough and bunkers at any cost.....this is remarkable! This is what in my personal opinion WGT can be richer, no economically but as a game with strategy.

I used to have a 54 avg and many top players went after me because I had only tens of ranked scored posted as legend and I was at one point nr. 3 in the 100 best legends list only after Dansamcam & Bollox, then I lost completely interest for WGt because I found out that all was a matter to see who could score more birds then the other, hitting rocks at Cabos in order to get on the 5 par green in 1 etc, etc etc.....just boring competition.

To me finally WGT gives a new challenge with the UL, challenge that I had been waiting for long time and now I feel very motivated to participate on any UL tourne even if my average gets over 70.

Yikes.....strong winds for the final round!!..lol nobody will score a 60, I can bet.

Was thinking, no way to plan you landing for a good second shot, St. Andrews fairways are so bloody "uneven" in advance that it will be pure luck to find a "flat" spot. hahaha. Gl everyone.

I've played a heck of a lot of UL rounds on St A and can say that knowing the fairways is a huge advantage for approach shots. Heavy wind is very manageable even with the UL but the Champ Speed greens with no way to practice putt that speed on St A is what I'm most concerned with going into the second round. Missing greens then having to hit recovery shots onto Champ Speed Greens should also prove a real challenge of imagination and guts.

    Should be fun. :)

I agree many TL's are probably put off my ruining their Average. Also I bet many simply do not want to spend time almost relearning a game they feel they've mastered. Unlimited play does not sit well with lots of players (particularly to post a decent score for what may be a fruitless second 18). Also many simply do not play in the free weeklies due to the limited (compared to high stake RGs) prize-pots. I'd also wager quite a few gave the Unlimited Play a go, but didn't post a score, so the actual participation is higher than shown on the leaderboard (this was the case for me in the BPB Tourny).

I had a quick practice before to the same conditions (mod winds), except of course that was with tournament greens and shot 60 (30/30). In R2 itself I shot 64 (32/32). Was never in any real trouble. Missed 2 greens - fringe on the 4th, and despite thinking I was playing long and safe, still fell down into the valley on the 18th (first time I've done that in over a year, lol! - on both I needed to add more club to an uphill lie - it's a good learning curve).

I just got some trickier lies than in the practice round, but most importantly (as with all rounds), my putting let me down - 27 putts, longest of 10ft and total distance of 60ft isn't going to win anything!! 2 putts under 7ft missed cost me big time (one miss-ding, the other simply didn't break) and the longer ones all went close but nothing dropped. Birdied all the Par 3's and 5's, but only 4 out of 10 birdies on the Par 4's wasn't good enough.

For Kia and StA at least, I I kind of look at the scoring as similar to playing in heavy winds (maybe a shot or 2 more) and probably 4 or 5 more than in Even Lies in the same conditions (as long as you stay out of trouble). Given time I can see people shooting sub 60s regularly - which is why I think equipment should be downgraded across the board / meter sped up. However I've enjoyed this tournament and really think WGT is on the right track with it (for experienced players at least).

Also, many may have gotten what I did...made the turn at 5 under, birdied 10 and my score card screen locked up with an ad "end of the Road"..or similar..after restarting my browser I played 11 through 18 with no lie indicators..least I didn't lose a ball, but did give back a lot of strokes.

Oh, MB (and everyone else who's experienced this)... how horribly unfair!

Hopefully, WGT will be able to address this bug as an issue of top priority in their January update... but sadly too late for this opening tourney.

This Invitational is challenging enough without the added stress and pressure of not knowing if you'll have a secure enough internet connection and enough time to get through all 18 holes in one go. Coming back to a game with no uneven lie grids is just cruel, especially when it's now single play...
