jimbean346: I'll throw four sleeves of balls into the prize pool (I suppose that's 2K of credits if you're looking at Nike balls being the general weapon of choice). Divide it up how you want but my suggestion would possibly be the low score per round gets one sleeve of balls.
What a great offer! Thank you so much, Jim!
jimbean346:
Perhaps you should give those balls I've offered to anyone who can manage a par or better on 9 at Oaky............................eeeeeekkkkkk. Forgot how frickin' impossible that hole is once you remove the brakes from the ball. Add in UL's and it's ripe for double's, trip's and bigger.
I'm hesitant to make it for low score per round, since it would almost certainly go to somebody also finishing in top 3, and the placing prizes are already nice and generous IMO.
My hope with the special prizes is to help encourage players to stick it out through the whole tourney so, if you don't mind, I'd like to apply your offer to the following:
2 players to win a sleeve of balls of their choice for Greatest Improvement (relative to par) throughout the tourney (from Round 1 to Round 4)
1 player to win sleeve of balls of their choice for Most Birdies across whole tourney (goes to next placed player not already in top 3 places)
1 player to win sleeve of balls of their choice for Least Bogies or Worse across whole tourney (goes to next placed player not already in top 3 places)
How does that sound to you?
Or, if you want to substitute any of these out for making a par on #9 at Oakmont, that would be great!!!
(BTW: last time around, as far as I can tell, only a couple of players, Woodo and Cornerpocket, managed pars at #9. If my memory's right, I think you have to lay up to either LW or SW distance and pray you can land it on a dime with full bs just beyond the front fringe and soft enough to roll up close... but on no account, go too far, or to either side!)
jimbean346: +4 on my first practice run at the Oak. Couple of lipped bird attempts early doors but lots of lagging putts from the back-end of beyond on most greens. All excellent fun and a real challenge....get involved peeps!
+4's pretty good, especially for first practice. Hans was our only player to get through in par or better at the Oak, shooting 70, with 3 of us coming in with 74s.
