oneputtdavid: Was involved in the Blacksox FIX.....Period. Look it up?
Didn't say he wasn't. What Joe did was wrong, but it didn't effect the history of the game the way the steroid poster children did. Joe was banned from the game for life.
Here's the thing: It wasn't until the 60s (I believe) when the Commissioner tied lifetime bans to HoF bans. In other words, Joe was eligible for the Hall the whole time, and his numbers were definitely HoF-worthy. Yet, he wasn't elected. The reason is the character clause. It kept Shoeless Joe out for decades before baseball decided people with lifetime bans were not eligible for the Hall. It should do the same for the steroid boys.
And I didn't say I wanted Joe in the Hall. I said I'd elect him before Bonds or Clemens.
