    axstrat:
I follow the forums pretty regular and the suggestions in there from some of the more experienced members here are in line with what im thinking too.  ( I mostly chime in about club owners ability to manage clubs better, but thats just me).

One issue is not all players follow the forums, how many time do you see a person, level 68 (I/e) come and ask a basic question?

(I just pick your response to highlight a point I'm about to make)

So, what can WGT do to get input from the masses, rather than just forum dwellers?

Well, all those neat little pop's they do to tell you "shut down at 11pm"..etc, could be implemented and the beginning of each players round at the game client...i/e

I start the game client, little message says"Have you read or contributed to the WGT forums lately?"..and have a link to do so.

Reason I bring this up, is what I'm proposing would include the masses (assuming they care) and not just the most vocal forum posters.

Of course the overall goal is to include the masses of players here on WGT.  Realistically though many players on here are here to play a game with loved ones or friends and not get involved with the overall running of the game.  So the short term goal would be to bring in the hardcore players who delve deeply into the game and get them more involved.  Ideally then they would become emissaries for the game.  Having people like that gives the masses an easy way of getting more involved with the game.  It is all going to be baby steps at first.  Can't change everything overnight.

In reading the last 2 entries before mine I think a great many players have NEVER! read the FAQ's, watched a training video, or wandered thru the forums to gain knowledge or insight,  In actual play (I'll play any level any time, anywhere, except 30 second clocks, thereby from where of I speak) I find many players do not know shinola about how to play WGT golf.  They do not ask questions, they do not want you to coach them, but are the first ones to yell FOUL! when something goes amiss.  Very sad commentary on the quality of players here, who are not terminally addicted.  My Nickle.

Sadly MB, many, well the majority of players have never read the forums for a variety of reasons and in theory, we could possibly have a users group that only support the forum readers and contributors.

However I think there are some players whose contributions, suggestions and advice would voice their ideas with the benefit off all players. The list I sent to Icon was purely based on what the forum contributors had asked for. Some will never be implemented, nor did I think they would benefit players but they were included.

If and how a Forum Users Group comes into fruition is another point. Nominations and a vote, appointed by WGT? I do not know but surely having a chanel on direct communication would be a great thing, for all players.

But some form of raising awareness of the forums will possibly bring fresh ideas, and in turn, benefit the entire community.. So I like the idea of the message in the game client. At least if players are aware of the forums and benefits it can bring, hopefully more people will contribute, if not then they cant really complain.

    Good point well made.

      Agreed,

The reason I mentioned it..when I started playing at WGT, was just after the Open? was it at Pebble Beach, my buddy found a link through PB site, and we'd play the CTTH, email each other our scores...for months it seemed..never knowing about a forum or other courses..lol!

Now look at me, too many posts and a zillion rounds later:)

How about upping the amount of free tournaments to 15 within a club?

Speaking just for me the last I ever cared about a computer game, indeed ever cared about one, was in 1990 - Sega Mega Drive Golf. In many ways this game is everything that very good early cassette game could and should have become.

At the end of the day the prerequisite raison d'etre for WGT is growth. I think doing this by also involving a user group is dynamic and to be applauded. Critically any user group must have a very defined terms of reference though.  The people that contribute to these forums we accept are a tiny percentage of the people that play this, but they play a big percentage in sound boarding the state of play as to how the game performs when really tested!

A player already at L98 will not necessarily have the same points of view as some one at L63, and so provided that is all understood, terms of reference set so that no one gets upset (smile) I applaud the move as good for all.

I agree with the shoe.... baby steps.  I would just add that the people on this group should be made known as they will take on special responsibilities for how they respond in any forum! I am not saying they will become WGT mouth pieces as such, BUT the forum's will not appear open minded unless there is that transparency.

Shoe - nice job so far if I may say!

I suppose I did things the other way around. I played as a guest for nearly 3 months before I joined using the E-Z Swing clubs. All the while I was reading the message boards to pick up tips and learned about earning the free credits. When I finally made the leap and joined, I already had the benefit of the experience of better players and jumped on the free credits from day 1. The members here are incredibly generous with fantastic playing information that can make learning the game, and earning free credits much easier and faster.

    Maybe none.

That sounds a bit more honest.lol

All those ideas will take time and money, and I'm sure WGt is quite happy at the moment with concentrating on Merion so every thing else will get thrown on the shelves and either forgot??  Or hopefully SOME might get implemented by next Christmas.

One thing which should certainly be on the list would be to give us the choice of game timer instead of the 2.30 which is currently available, maybe 5 mins 4 mins and 2.30 mins.  (my game was taking ages to load and after a while i closed browser and tried to re-load game menu, this took a few go's to load and was just in time as timer was down to 30 secs) Please at least give it a think
