    Dubfore:

I think this might prove that putting (only using the putter) in CTTH tournaments can not only work, but would be much more popular if WGT made the changes.

I assume with your communist opinion, that a wedge only competition would be absolutely unheard of ?? After all, the bottom line on shot preference is up to the player with the club in hand, isn't it ? To dictate what clubs can or cannot be used on any part of the course is ludicrous.

What's next ??  Driver or 3wood only from the tee ? I have aced every hole on the putting competition with both the wedge and with the putter with the exception of 2 and 8, which so far have been only aced with the wedge. The point is, that I can do it with whatever shot I chose to hit, and that choice remains mine. Democracy rules !

In a putting competition you putt. If you would bring out the wedge in a real putting competition, on a real green, against players that appears on that green with their physical self, then you would get your wedge rammed up your poop chute. And not necessarily by communists.

It would teach you a thing or two about democracy

Do they have rules for putting competitions? Anyway, WGT makes the rules here, not USGA or R&A. We are giving them feedback and opinions that might or might not affect what rules they make.

I think they (?said) working on selected only clubs for CC comps so maybe it will encompass this to for those that want it!

Putting only Comps..... should be... your only allowed to use your Putter.

Because Wgt allows you to use any clubs in your bag... so be it.

Most of those holes it's easier to hit a wedge than the putter.... say no more

Soooo what game rules should we be using as a guideline for online golf??? Perhaps ping pong. checkers or  chess ?

If WGT did not want us to use wedges on the greens, they could have. Instead they just removed the spin on the ball to make that shot less desirable and harder.

I'm sorry, but you do not make much sense. I get it that you want to use the wedge, that you want to play each putting competition a million times to get your markers right, but some of us would like to be confronted with a very tricky putt. One that goes left, up, down, right and then left again. Some of us like to read the green and imagine how the ball will roll. Some of us like to put together our calculations and our imagined ball path and give it a go. Then, when the ball follows the predicted path we get a feeling of satisfaction.

Bring the wedge out for  a long putt we can do at any time in any game, but extremely tricky putts are rare.

Now, when someone sets up the course for a putting competition I'd bet that he, or she, puts the pin and the putting position with a putt in mind. A putt with a putter, a putt that stays on the ground.

Personally I will not enter any putting competitions that are not single play since a unlimited play competition will always be dominated by those who play it over and over again with a notepad in front of them. Maybe they even have small pieces of adhesive material they attach on the screen as aim points. Or they use the wedge.

So my suggestion to WGT would be:
    1. Make single play putting blitzes
    2. Make some putting blitzes putter only.

Then the wedge people can millimetre tune their aim and strength  in some games and others can enjoy a proper putting challenge.

FFS Tightrope..... U make it sound like the people that have practiced the wedge and made it work can only do that and not putt. I putt lots....like 54.000 times so far I think. The point is, it's a matter of choice. Nothing more.
