@Ducati916
Me narrow minded? Not wanting to know what other people think? I did ask in my first sentence this>> "I was wondering how so many players could get so low scores on the
putting greens in the putting tourneys. Is this down to the accuracy of
their wedge play?"
I don't know if wedging on a green is too hard for me, I never tried it and won't. I like the challenge of trying to putt better, online or on a course. If you think I'm looking for the easy option, you're wrong.
You said: "You sound like the typical under achiever..."I can't win the way it is...." That is exactly why the 'wedgies' won't use the putter, it's not easy enough for them to get the prizes, including yourself I suspect.
The 'wedgies' are the players looking for the easy pickings, they seem like your typical lazy person, why walk the couple of blocks when I can hop in a cab? They are lazy and can't be bothered to tax their brains on greens. Yes, under achievers at putting.
I respect peoples 'opinions', but some of the comments made suggest people haven't given this issue serious thought, many, -including you- are missing the points. And one of them is this: The overuse of the wedge on greens on WGT would not be tolerated in the real game. Because it's so underplayed in the real game, it doesn'y really get much attention, and, as has been pointed out, players use it mainly to get off sand or bad ground on greens.
Although it wouldn't ruin the game if 'wedging' was completely banned on greens, I'm not asking for a total ban, (as pointed out in my earlier post), It's being abused and overexploited, particularly where credits and prizes are at stake.
I think WGT should compromise and remove it's use for these competitons. Where's the harm in that?
