  Sorry for not knowing, but who is Margaret Thatcher?

  She was the UK's 1st and only woman prime minister AKA The Iron Lady, who made tough decisions and stuck by them regardless. This made her many enemies as you can see by some of the moronic hate comments in this thread.

  When she came to power, the UK was on it's knees. Tough and very unpopular decisions needed to be made in order to make the UK strong again and she made them. Only complete fools & idiots would fail to see any huge improvements from the UK as it was prior to her coming to power and how the country is today.

  She had the balls to take on Scargill & the unions (who'd brought down 2 previous governments) and won. Something which she's been hated for ever since.

  - Sacrificed the lives of hundreds to boost her popularity

  - Supported Pinochet and apartheid and called Mandela a terrorist

  - Began the dismantling of the Welfare State

  - Sold off almost all the countries assets

  - Set the feminist movement back years by refusing to promote women into the cabinet

  - Isolated Scotland

  - Made the UK the laughing stock of Europe

  - Introduced the Poll Tax

  -Created a culture of greed and selfishness

  - Created the current banking system

  - Openly admitted her intolerance of gay rights

  - Turned the UK into a Police state

  I could go on...

  People are entitled to express whether they like or dislike but it has nothing to do with misunderstanding......

  this sums up a lot of the braindead comments in this thread ..

  it takes a nut$ack the size of which she possesed to see through the kinda decisions that had to be made even at the risk of generating so much short sighted hate .. what elevates her in my opinion is the fact that she did what was necessary to fix the country .. unlike the spineless jelly fish that nowadays pose as politicians & are merely serving themselves instead of the people that put them into power ..

  she had big picture vision & the guts to see it through ..
