    Hello all

In order from 1 upwards what would you say was the toughest to easy course...1-2-3-4-5 ect..

    thanks paul

It depends on the winds. With heavy winds

    1 RSG

    2 St. Andrews

    3 Olympic

    4 Merion

     5 Oakmont

and then all the rest in no particular order.

I think Merion is the toughest I have played.

    I will contribute my opinions....

1- Merion - this course makes you think about every shot to be taken, the rough is very unforgiving, the greens are very demanding, and precision is required at all times. I had never felt that laying up safely was a better option, on so many holes, as at Merion.

2&3 - a tie between Olympic and Oakmont  -  Olympic with its' anti-pitched fairways and tough greens; and Oakmont can just be all-around tough.

4- Whistler - this course just plain stymies me...lots of "traps" if one isn't careful.

5&up - all of the other courses....I even LOVE Royal St. Georges...won a Ready- Go there recently in very high wind conditions....the place seems to suit me. And Cabo seems conducive to low scoring rounds, with flat greens and a general ease of getting around the course....

    JMHO....for what they are worth.......

    ...see you on the course....

    1. Merion by far. Especially from the legend tee and on champ greens (is MUCH easier from the forward tees with slower greens). Just shot a 63 there, but you can only be aggressive on wedge shots. Everything else is all out defense and try to make a putt.

    2. RSG: So hard to keep it in the fairway

    3. Oakmont: The greens. However, several wedge chances keep this from being rated higher

    4. Congressional

    5. Olympic

    6. Bethpage

    7. Kiawah

    8. St Andrews

    alanti:

For me this is y top 5 toughest.

1, Merion - toughest greens, top course management required

    2. Olympic - hard greens and some hard fairways to hit

    3. Oakmont- tough greens

    4. RSG - winds can cause havoc

    5. Congressional - tight fairways

Basically I recommend you play all courses, some shots you use on one course do not necessarily work on others so take notes of what works and where, especially the short game. All too often you find a player who is brilliant on one course and looks and plays like a hack on every other course.

This game is not easy and you are always learning so most importantly, enjoy the journey.

Most people find St Andrews front nine the easiest with Kiawah coming in second. However to lower averages sometimes It easier to do belter on the shorter nines (par 35 or less)

I agree completely. You nailed my sentiments exactly.

Hello Paul if you are new to the game play the USGA courses and you will improve greatly. St. A is most fun as a master and Tour master.....along with the Ocean course. If you play well on the USGA courses found in the set up Championship Zone then you will abuse the competition! Take it from me...I have been a member for less than a year and I am able to post a 28 or two on just about all of these venues. The main thing is that you just keep swinging and upgrading when can be afforded. Hope you have a great golf experience here with us at WGT.

tough question and how you play makes a diff

for me i guess merion at the mo shes new there are a lot of birdie chances with right shots, the rest can be broke down oly f9 is really tough but the b9 isn't same as oak.cong is my nemesis,i think iv'e won rg's everywhere except cong, ccc seems the hardest to stop the ball where you want.my fav is sta it's no secret wind can be tough, but you get what you play and the putts are less deviated than anywhere else.whistler high winds a challenge and half, kia is  great course but let down by camera angles took by a 2 year old and dots lie,the camera i blame WGT if the putts really lie about going against break well done WGT for immitating it.oh bpb is a gr8 starter course only wind makes a diff, some play long or short

If that is the case why does my score go down by 0.01 with a 4 under on merion and 002 on Bethpage ?.
