The word I'm hearing is this......it's not going as long as the R1 level 98....which seems to outdrive the black one by ten yards average.....just so u know

anybody out there tried them both?
    we don't need another versagate

I've played 4 rounds with a friend who had level 98 R1 and i had level 93 R1, at Congressional, RSG, best of famous and bethpage.  We both used identical spin on every hole and most holes where my ball landed, his ball would bounce near my ball and continue for another 10 to 20 yards. Only on a few holes we had similar drives, but the majority the difference was OBVIOUS.  All WGT seem to have done is disguise the OLD obsolete R11 to fool us and to make easy $.  This is just my opinion though after playing 4 rounds.  Yes, the obvious thing is the driver being a expensive imitation or it just might show that wgt manipulate shots (if drivers are identical) Go see for yourselves.  I bought the level 98 for $35 thinking i was getting the level 98 driver quicker but after the rounds I've played this afternoon, I feel like Ive been conned and are using a driver which IS NOT the same as R1(white).  Players will not continue to be "ripped-off" in this way.

it's kinda hard to compare it that way,
because thanks to VEM we don't all get the same results,
so the only sure way to know is for a seasoned player that owns the lvl 98,
to rent the black l93 version and share his conclusions with the rest of us.
some pretty talanted players out there that can afford to rent it and compare
for the rest of us sub 98 players. would be a great public service,
though if it turns out to be a fraud like the versa, this will destroy and shred
of credibility they have, so I still hope this is somehow not true.
I'll be making level 93 in a few days, and recent posts turned a no brainer
into a major dilemma - more input needed top players, help us out here :)

The black R1 is shorter and less forgiving, don't let the specs fool you.

Enough sensible people have now said as much.......I will not be putting in extra yards to get this.  I will toodle along and get the R11S in due course.  I bought the Versa and good as it is the description was not what one would expect...I can only go by review's and so far nothing that complimentary......very sad!

I was not holding my breath, but they can make me wrong on that still:)

Jim i just played a few ready goes and a few alt. shot. Playing with players using same ball, off same tee, lol. The R11s is longer for sure.

Somebody smack me in the head please! Don't know what i was thinking, bad decision mate, lol. Make sense though, why would you have a better club at lower level?

Now i'm thinking about buying R11s model again, :)

Hard to believe this is true, the driver properties are exactly the same in both colors and certainly WGT would say that, the only difference is the color. It would be a fraud to sell two different drivers announcing/claiming exactly same properties for both.

The price difference is for the ones in a hurry (like me) to get the R1 driver.

But, they made no such claim...  "The hottest driver on the PGA Tour is available in all black for a limited time on WGT. This top-performing TaylorMade R1 virtual driver unlocks for top players at Level 11Level 48, and Level 93. Note that the Black R1 driver unlocks at Level 93 while the White R1 driver unlocks at Level 98, but only for a limited time this summer."

Really no mention of them being the 'same' club. And, I think we all know that the advertised club specs are not always accurate.

So is the TaylorMade R11S 9.0 Driver (L94+) Better or worse then the TaylorMade R1 Super TP 8.0 Black  at level 93?

There is such a thing as implied intent.  WGT knew what they were doing with this one you may agree. Anyway after "Versagate" (as another poster aptly termed it) the reputation of the Pro Shop could not stand another hit. Save for some other respected people wading in, saying the opposite what already respected have said, the next special will not (well OK might not) move so quick, and sales of this...............

It's a virtual shop and IMO the description's need to allow an informed choice end of...........People then want to go ahead and buy only for the forgiveness, if it exists this case, or whatever that's fine..........Feel for the people who feel they have been caught!

I have not played with any of my friends wearing the R1 in "white" version yet, however until now, I can see the yardage promised and also remember playing with guys wearing the same R1 white landing in pretty similar distances.

Do I need to wait until I get level 98, in a year time probably, to get the R1?....nope. The tool is already available.

Even on a virtual game the 'big dog' mentality is still a major seller, lol.

The difference in real life though is when you find that driver that is perfect for you it really does knock shots off your game but on here, hand on heart how many shots will this driver save you over the other top performing drivers already available?

The short game and the putting is where it's at and after getting mugged into buying the Versa and it's fraudulent meter speed, it'll be a while before I dip into my pockets for 'the next best thing' again!!

WGT are very good at marketing, not so great with dots and descriptions though it seems.

Totally agree. However, the slow meter and those extra yards distance gives me; one iron less in the approach and the time to go and make a coffee before I need to hit the ding.
