Hardest course and hardest hole

  The most difficult hole? The one when I miscalculate the wind, pick the wrong club, miss the ding and then the caddy gives me the wrong putter.

  The most difficult course? The one when all the above happens 9 / 18 times, (often around can #6 to 10).

  Hardest course: I'd say Merion. Tee to green, it's a tougher test than Bethpage. But unlike BPB, the course doesn't let it's guard down on the greens. Everything about the course is challenging and I'm finding the Michelin Challenge conditions make it absolutely brutal.

  Honorable mentions: Oakmont, Olympic Club, Bethpage.

  Hardest hole: So many to pick from.

  Bethpage #15  I've found that the front bunker is not a bad place to miss with the pin up front. That back to front putt is the toughest 2 putt in the game for me.

  Oakmont #9  That green is evil, especially with the right-front pin. Like above, I'll take the front bunker all day over a longish putt from above the hole.

  St Andrews #17  Haven't even been close to a birdie here. Long left is a good miss as it leaves an uphill chip shot.

  Bethpage #7  Unreachable in two most of the time for me, and to add insult to injury, the pin is tucked front-right about 90% of the time..negating any chance for a 3.

  Congressional #11 Water right is a ball magnet. Aim the approach a bit left and you'll just catch the trap, leaving 30 yard bunker shot across a tiered green. 4 is a great score here.

  Merion #5 Like most tee shots on this course, it just doesn't set up well to the eye. The green is diabolical. There is really no good place to miss here and the green does not reward good shots. That said, I made 3 here last time around. Yay!

  I have to go with Oakmont, that course is just tough.

  The 5th hole at Merion gets my vote for the hardest hole while the 9th hole at Oakmont (with the front right pin) gets my vote for a close second.

  My view of toughest hole is based on scoring average.  BPB 15 is not a hard hole to par but tough to birdie.  STA 17 can be hard to birdie but not a tough par in most conditions.

  The 5th at Merion is the most difficult to make par or birdie on in my opinion as is the 9th at Oakmont.  I would say that I have an over par average on both those holes.

  Have to say Olympic. So darn hard to hit those stupid tilting fairways with nasty deep rough.

  As for hardest hole, I'd go with 7 at St. Andrews. I don't have a good driver and end up in the gorse short of the fairway EVERY SINGLE TIME. Stinks. A bogey is a miracle for me on that hole.

  Try hitting to the fairway to the left instead of just coming up short of the 7th fairway. Use a 3 wood off the tee then another 3 wood to the green. Even if you still make bogey or worse at least the journey will be a new one and you'll have a new experience along the way. GL and HF.

  Oakmont has ruined me every single time.  Bethpage always a non-stop challenge but becomes easier with practice, Oakmont never has.

   

  Also 13th at St.Andrews... probably not the hardest hole in the game but damn never got a birdie once, bane of my wgt life.

  Re: 7th St. A., using full backspin on your drive should get you over most of the time.

  Also the BXD balls for 10 credits give an extra 7-10 yards on average.

  As a Pro with Starter clubs, it's nerve wrecking for sure! Nevertheless, it should be possible to lay up to the fairway between rough and bunker with second, hit the green in three and save bogey, sometimes win a Par. The "new path" to the left adds too much distance for the second shot, and the risk of a special "WGT-OOB". No better chances for a Par from there.

  As an alternative, think of buying a 3WD as a budget driver replacement. R11 (level 30ish) comes to my mind, but at your level 45, there may be better ones available. My favourite then was a Rapture, but it has been cancelled long time ago. *memories*

  You will experience longer drives and much better precision and forgiveness, too.

  My toughest hole is St Andrews 17, I think I have hit a decent approach 1 or 2 times.

   

  Toughest course to me is Olympic. It never feels too bad at first, but I begin to notice I am playing like *** every time I'm on it. I don't think that is a coincidence.
