I'm playing on an "old" Athlon XP based computer with "mid-speed" internet connection and occasionally have 'stutter'.  My history & cache are set to erase every time I leave the net & I start every WGT session with a 'new' internet start-up.

As suggested in another thread on the forum,  I have found that holding my 'club' at the desired power for a few seconds before releasing it for the 'hit' largely eliminates the problem.

Basically we know what system WGT uses for the web version, that being flash. Personally I would like to know what system they are using for the WGT Golf Lite and WGT golf Mobile. I only know that it is not flash because it is only available right now on Iphones and Ipads which don't use flash. The meters for both on my Iphone 4s are silky smooth. I would like to know if that system is or will be compatible with the web version or can be made compatible.

    Wheels65:

I just changed from a relatively old Athlon X2 to a nice new i5 system and while this computer does everything waaay faster, I can't honestly say my meter is any better.  I also have a pretty slow connection, 2mb/s, but once the shot is loaded this shouldn't make any difference.  I think the trick is finding an old Flash release that works well with WGT as the newer ones often seem to cause stutters.  One of the advantages of Maxthon is it never automatically updates Flash, even after you install a new one.  Sadly I can't remember which release I had on the old system, I now have the one that was new when I set the computer up.

Something I find helps on bad meter days is to set up the shot, then before taking the shot move the cursor slowly back and forth across the ding line.  The first couple of passes are usually jerky but after a few it settles down and is smooth.  Obviously it's just killing time until the game has sorted itself out and doing nothing would have the same effect but at least this way you know when the game is ready to go.

Maybe the cursor hanging around the ding line helps focus on it but I find I usually hit the dong when I do this.  I just can't be bothered every shot.

The old Anthlon processors were lightning fast, every gamer used them...the only problem was they got really hot so the gaming industry actually came out with "water" cooled heat sinks so they would last longer....

Internet connections have zero to do with what he is complaining about yet that's your idea of help?
You couldn't be more wrong! Basically put, the reason you use programs to shut down all the other programs running, update this, tweek that is to be able to process the data smoothly, the stutter happens when there is a interruption in the data processing, thus the jerking meter....why anyone uses another program(which is running) instead of doing it yourself with "msconfig" is purely because it is easier than learning something that will benefit them in the long run...

buying a new computer with all the latest technology isn't the answer...it won't be any better unless your internet speed and connection is optimized....any wireless = delays, it will work, just not as well as hardwired...if you need to have a pc with a superfast processor to play, fine, get a barebone tower with a decent graphic card, an I7 processor with 3gigs of ram, and load XP on it and it will work a "hair" better than the same setup with an old Pentium 4 because the key component to that setup is XP, not the processor(there is a reason 2gigs of ram is more than enough with XP and 4gigs of ram is bare minimum with W7 and W8)...and if you have a weak internet connection your still screwed.

Meters are rendered locally. Data is not being transmitted while you're swinging. Put it together. MM's action eliminates the connection issue but there are many other things that can cause the stutter, especially and particularly on a new computer.

As it ever been disclosed what version of flash the game is actually written for, WGT are probably a couple of versions of flash behind what adobe is now up to.

Maybe something so simple as WGT releasing what version there code is written for, and any updates they are going to use in the future.

    parformance:

Upgraded to a new computer with more RAM than I know what to do with and a video card to match. I am experiencing just as much stutter as I was a year ago. It makes playing the game near impossible. BTW I don't have problems with other sites.

    RE RAM;

If you were playing a game that was downloaded to your hard drive and mostly played by lifting files off of your hardrive then the more ram than you know what to do with would come into play.

This game uses very little of your ram due to it's being a flash based program played mostly through a browser and ones CPU. Even If you have a larger duo core or quad core cpu sure the percentage of use is much smaller but still if you release your swing with anything spiking or processing through your cpu your meter will stutter or skip, more so on some browsers than others. Especially when putting due to the animated dots moving. Even your mouse pointer causes processing spikes that is why it is common knowledge to hold the backswing, it allows for the cpu to settle hence less stutter.

The more background programs you have running the more chance you have of spikes happening. Your CPU works on kind of like a first come first serve basis without knowing the game files are more important to you.. However through your task manager you can prioritize your browser game process to be of a higher priority and help somewhat. Still and all it is best to have whatever processes you don't need running during your game play turned off either through something like game booster or through something like CCcleaner or MSconfig.

So BS or not all of this helps. Sure it's a PIA but I would rather do preventative then live with what I first encountered with all the skipping and stuttering. Now all I gotta live with is VEM and my crappy old reflexes.

That's interesting, so why is it when my meter starts stuttering(which isn't very often) I can kill the homepage and restart it, then the meter quits stuttering?

Also my Zone Alarm meter is active anytime there is a data transfer from my pc to the net....why is it active when I let the meter go if there is no data transfer?

What do you mean by "kill the home page?" How are you starting your game? It sounds like you're hitting Play Now and leaving the main window open. That would definitely cause problems for some.
