To me, the only problem with the new update -- and it's a huge one -- is hinging the purchase of new equipment largely, if not entirely, on levels and experience points, which take forever to accumulate and bring a player to the next level (especially past the first beginner levels). This creates considerable havoc and frustration, as players often find that their tier and their level are completely at odds and leave them in the lurch, with the equipment they want painfully locked for weeks or perhaps months. This is clearly insane, possibly the worst oversight and blunder in WGT history, otherwise known for an outstanding golf game that outshines all others.

That may be so for some existing players, but that should change as people come on board and as existing folks move up. It seems to me that moderate play moves one ahead about 1 level every day or so. So somebody starting out could get to those levels in a couple of months. How long did it take me to work to Master? Six months of moderate but dedicated play. So I'd be at that level anyway in the same time.

WGT balls slow down the swing meter.  I have the Taylor Made R9 Master driver and use the tour GI-S balls, and the swing meter is the same as it was when I was using starter clubs (or pretty close).

Yes I know. If I'm moved up to Master and am able to buy Master clubs, then I'll probably have to start buying balls too, simply to slow down the meter. Really don't want to do that though, as there is no way I can get by without putting money into the site. And I have gotten by quite well so far with the starter balls.

Ummm, more than moderate play, mate.

As per The Change (TM), was moved up to Tour Pro at Level 20.  The difference between that Level and the next was 415EP

At Level 27, where I now reside, the difference is 1000EP.  Clearly, the slope is getting steeper as it goes.  At present, it takes 6 ranked rounds to move up one level.  I'm 50 levels at least from upgrading to the Master clubs I want.  That means a round a day for the next YEAR to qualify for the kit I want to advance.  Not even counting the excremental scale that's applied to level progression.

Not griping, just pointing out that a lot of Master/Legend infighting has obscured the hurdles that have now been placed before newer players.

I'm in exactly the same position: level 27 Tour Pro player. Apparently the difference on early-30 levels is 14-1500 points, so it seems to go up rather steeply. It could well be 5 or even 10,000 points between level at the 60-80 levels. It's going to take a surreal amount of golf to get the new clubs.

You all are very right and reading your objections made me think that maybe, just maybe, this was the brainchild of the Chief Financial Officer. Jam everybody up by putting them in tiers they should be in BUT lock the equipment they need to be competitive. Then, after everybody is up in arms about it, unlock the equipment long enough to let them buy what they need/want. Bingo, instant cash infusion.

That is the only way I can rationalize such a dramatic change. It certainly isn't fair.

There was a sale on for about 2 weeks though...everyone should have bought new clubs then, for a cheaper price than what i did previously!

I think you missed the point, Chris. Nobody had a clue about what was going to happen with the tier promotions.

As a new member, with previous pc golf experience, I can state from experience that the new system works well, and that the opportunity  is always there to upgrade to competitive equipment as one goes up to the upper tier. I already have G10 pro clubs, which became available as I turned pro and did not depend on levels. As I progress other options will open up, and that is admittedly a defensible incentive to play on.

The problem concerns old members, and the Sept. sale is meant to address that issue. WGT, after all, does know what it's doing.

    the new system works well,

When it comes to the new setup, seldom is heard an encouraging word!

The question is whether as new players work up the ladder over time, the equipment that becomes available to them will be a reasonable fit with the increasing challenges they face.
