No doubt in my mind that the equipment that becomes available at whatever tier is competitive. I just turned master and bought excellent master clubs. No problem. Just check my golf bag :-)

I hate to tell you, I like this golf game, but you need to get something right, becauce when you try to chip on to the green and it goes a foot or 2, thats not right. I have played golf and watch it and when a ball lands in the rough it don't hits and stays there. When you putt and the ball rolls half way in to the and stop that not right, so please make this golf game enjoyable to play thank you

The chipping and pitching in this game was frustrating to me from the start.  I got a tip in one of these forums to use 'full' wedge shots with full backspin around the greens, and once you get used to it, it's pretty consistent.  I never use 'chip' or 'pitch' shots in this game for the reason you mentioned above.

As the originator of this post, I am glad to hear your news and to see the clubs that  you have got.  What I still don't understand as a Tour Master I cannot purchase the clubs or have access to them except through the one off sale.  Which raises the question did you get them because of the sale being still on or because you turned master?  It will be interesting to see what clubs are available to you next week after the sale and to others  who turn master etc after sale.  Similarly, will you have access to improved versions of your clubs when and if they come out after the sale or will you only have access to them by level and not by Tier.  Which at current rate I think I would have to play every day for a year before I got to the level appointed for the better clubs.  I have advance 9 levels since the change and i have played more than I will continue to be able to play

Iconian's comprehensive guide to the short game is highly recommended:

One cardinal rule is that from rough you need to hit chip or pitch shots that are full or nearly full. Otherwise, go down a club until you have nearly a full shot. That's why it's crucial to have extra wedges when dealing with the rough around the greens at Bethpage (especially).

Very shrewd and important question. For future newcomers, the problem would arise if they advanced through tiers much faster than through levels. I -- with previous pc golf experience -- is a good example, but the Sept. sale saved me.

WGT goes by the assumption that achieving master takes months of experience. But I can testify to the fact that it is not always so.

Otherwise, the new system has its merits.

Anytime a system is changed, a can 'o' worms gets opened. In this case we have night-crawlers.

I dont have a clue on how to fix all of this. but looking back over the history of this forum, some excellent ideas that would simplify things have been ignored.

Lets take the quitters problem: A very simple solution here. Make everyone complete there rounds. You cant play another game unless you complete your last round, period! Unless your playing in practice mode.

    Problem #2

As a player bounces from 1 tier to the next and must go back to the longer tees, make available clubs that are designed for that group. And make them available immediately regardless of there level. If they don't have the money, tough pooperoonie. And furthermore they cant move to the next level until they have them.

Throwing players of different skills together in tournaments. No!

Legends play legends, tour masters play tour masters are you getting this point? In real life PGA qualified players play PGA qualified players.

Major tournaments such as the US Open are for the Legends period. There that clears up most all our problems and is simple to implement. And that is great incentive to practice!!!

Well, I just got "promoted" to master...

I'm now unable to hit par because the clubs are not available to me. Bethpage Black back nine is IMPOSSIBLE.

I hired a decent driver with an eye to buying it, the rental period finished, and suddenly it wasn't available to me anymore...

I can't do anything now except grind around the courses gaining "experience" until I unlock something that is halfway decent.

I'm not best pleased. They let you get to master in no time at all, then don't give you the equipment to get anywhere.

WGt seem to be remaining silent, unless I have missed it on what is a fundamental stuff up.  I cannot quote what I think everytime I get congratulated for going up another level.  I can say it makes me very angry because I realise how far it is to get the clubs I got through the Tier process by the level process.  I am angry for people like you.  I have all the clubs I need at the moment.  That is not the point.  Their silence also makes me very angry.  I have sent them an email at the start of this thread and received a case number.  Still no reply.  Probably because they have no answer.  Similarly, inspite of all the noise they remain silent.  This is not good PR to say the least.

Fairness requires that people have the equipment they need to compete with others in their tier on an even playing ground.

The level concept seems to be derived from typical video gaming. There is nothing inherently wrong with that. However, in line with gaming concepts, the experience levels could, in the future, be used to allow players to "unlock" new COURSES, rather than new EQUIPMENT.

(There could be some equipment improvements unlocked through advancement in levels, but it could involve other features like spin or working the ball, not something basic like the brute length off the tee.)
