Has anyone any suggestions on how to solve the problem of country club tournaments being dominated and won be a handful of players?  Some of the members in my club are getting a bit irritated by this.  One player suggested some form of rating the competitions to suit the players club game score averages.

Do you have tier specific tournaments? Anyway if the same people keep winning just have a word with them and ask them to keep it fair. If they don't obey then move them on.

We do play tour specific, but one of our newest members has been dominating a lot of competitions.

    I'll check that out Craig.

    Thank you both.

Handicaps. CosaNostra has an owner that has these in place and it works. Nothing fancy, scores based on actual CC tournaments BUT we have different winners of handicapped events.  :-)

I am the match coordinator (MC) within our CC and as the only TL within the CC I ensure that our events are run as even as possible. If it means that events are set up by certain tiers, that excludes me, then so be it.

Hack to Pro, TP to Master, TM to Legend, main events are at the mercy of ev1 to enjoy, and even events solely for the ladies. We have monthly matchplay and alternate shot events which are random draw events for those who wish to play.

Appoint a MC to arrange your tournaments and ensure that fairness to all is always the consideration.

    Good luck

Thanks Ramp and Tux for your suggestions.  I can only ask for a volunteer, I'm not at the 'appointing' stage in our club yet, and doubt if I will be.

A couple of the formulas I've seen seem a bit complicated. I had something simpler in mind, like what one of our members suggested. Grade players A, B and C etc based on their handicaps, and they can only enter the A, B, or C tournaments they are graded to.

In credit tournaments, the playing field would be more or less level and who gets the winnings shouldn't be an issue.

By the way, I should have made it clear in my initial post that it's in credit tournaments where the problem is.

    I'll keep you posted.
