Quote: I really hope that you are learning that your lack of transparency is the single largest detriment to the game.

I agree 100 % with you on this.Posts go unanswered, good suggestions ignored..this past post by WGT in regards to stats being reset has to be one of the first response you've made to a forum. Not the usual curt reply.Refreshing to say the least. What kind of wizard is behind the curtain? We need feedback too.

Once in a while I do ok in a tourney and I dont mind spending some  $$ for clubs and tournaments. I purchase your products I enjoy the game but dont insult us by saying you hear us. 8 months for a putting meter fix, turn up the volume. Thats just one little thing. You have a good product which people enjoy but there are a lot of good products out there and the companys that make them are going broke these days. Dont forget the players.   fuzzygazz

Hear hear Salamii.  Hey Snaike, you're just the kind of people we don't need around here bud. So take your stupid comments elsewhere !

Let me remind you that this a forum designed for people to hold discussions about issues that affect them and the game itself.  Hence there's no need to critisize other people's opinion, no one did that to you ! You've already have your say so sit back and let others have their say.

I’d like to thank Captaincouples for his post because he showed his appreciation to the people that have built this great game for all of us to enjoy.  I have written a few posts to remind people that they should thanks everyone from wgt for their hard work in providing us the opportunity to experience the game of golf at a level of realism that has never been done before   His behaviour is that of a true gentleman and that of a golfer that respect the tradition of the game of golf.

I am surprised and disgusted at the same time in regard to the reaction to captaincouples’s post from one of the best player and most well known personality of this game.  Tibbets directly accused another player, who he does not know very well, from hiding and  not posting a round on Bethpage to protect his scoring average ! Little does he know that the player concerned has been away from his home for over a week and has been back online for less than 24 hours ! That kind of behaviour reflects a very defensive person who does not care or respect someone else’s opinion other than his own.  Does he really need to do that or is this his way of showing he has a positive contribution to make for this community ?

Here are some facts that I think all of you who have participated in this discussion should really consider:

    • As at 13th of May 2009 Total number of ACTIVE Players in wgt - 1,897.  To be defined as ACTIVE, a player must post at least  1 ranked round in the previous 6 weeks up to this date.
    • A Total of 44 players voted YES in the recent poll calling for resetting of the stats. That represents approx 2% of the total number of players in the game right now.

All of you should also consider that there are many players here whose perspective on the stats are completely different to what you’re thinking. One view that I can point out is that a player’s stats is like a history book of his or her career from the very first game on this site.  There would be many players who would want to keep their stats simply for this reason alone.

A player’s stats is pretty much his own property, so imagine his reaction if a small band of people who thinks that they are acting on behalf of him and the whole community, just decided to erase it without asking for his approval or at least give him a logical explanation why this action is necessary.  In life things does not work this way, and this kind of mentality  will only destroy the foundation of this wonderful game and website.

I think that this issues definitely need to have a solution and I encourage all the players to speak up and express their point of view.  I just hope that when they do post their comments, they won’t be treated like what I’ve seen in this thread.

Great work on the stats Nivlac, thanks for including me. Sometimes I feel slighted when people here only mention Tibbs and Lee half the time.

And Jarid I would be remiss if I didn't mention I sweaked by you there... hehe

Now I have to go work on my scrambling evidently... sigh

Once thing to remember is that once the game goes out of beta, the stats are most likely going bye-bye anyway, so cling onto them while you can.  Oh, and feel free to add your 'nay' vote to the poll that's out there, if that's how you really feel about it.

Now I know why WGT appears to have a deaf ear on occasion, it's hard to weave through all the judgments, assumptions, criticisms, and defensive posturing among the members in some of these forums.

This was a discussion on fair comparisons of players and reseting, is it possible to get back to this?

The word respect gets thrown around a lot lately, respect is about understanding, compassion, and gratitude, even when we don't agree.  It is also about telling the absolute truth.

My suggestion to resolve all of this is for members to purely ask a non-editorial question of WGT concerning comparison of players and resets and WGT answer it as quickly as they can in this forum for each individual question.  Isn't that what leaders are obligated to do, teach, instruct, and communicate?

Once the members understand the goals of WGT, then a legitimate discussion of ideals can take place.

Peace folks, it was so much simpler in the '60's.

    Wasnt it just :-)

Hendrix, Woodstock - ah yes what a time it was.  Good line for a song there !! :-)

As far as the stats go - happy to reset but it would be nice to retain your old ones somewhere. I've been on the site a long while now and it would be nice to have the old stats stored away somewhere.

    Peace, Love & Flying Saucers

Wow, what a bunch of differences.  Just seems to be a little view of what happens whenever a game is beta'd.  There are great points on each side.  I did vote for a reset, but that is only so that I would be forced to start finishing rounds rather than having to give up and never actually sink the 18th hole (need more courage).  As if I am only as good as my average.  Almost everyone on here is a very nice person (I am not suggesting anyone is not) and I have never had a bad round of chat, even when I had a bad round of golf.

That being said I have no idea of how hard it is to tweak the game, but I can imagine that it is no fun to do it daily or weekly.  Therefore, I trust the WGT must have some sense that by not trying to keep most people happy they will likely have a smaller audience.  I would like to encourage everyone to have open and honest discussion without the personal attacks.  That is the way that change will occur that may have the best impact.

I admit that I am not on the forum very much and so I miss much of the history that has built up to these comments, but I hope that we all can be bigger than that.

Just my 2 cents.  Thanks everyone for the golf, chat, and for trying to make WGT the best that it can be.

    Rich

PS - Hey CC sorry to hear about your cabin and all of the work that you have been doing on it.  I noticed that you were not on here for a couple of weeks working on fixing your situation.

Salamii and Coolswing...  Thank you for your input.  I will say to you that I DO respect other peoples opinions and I DO allow for differences therein.  I have absolutely no problem with CaptCouples posts or opinions in the slightest until I read the following:

    CaptainCouples:

    WhaaaH !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Someone get that kid a !@#$%^& Handkerchief while I run to the pro shop snack bar for some more cheese and crackers! Please...

Find me in the search for players and whine more on my wall if you feel the need and you know who I am typing about.

    Again WGT Admin

My Thanks for all of your efforts thus far and in the future.

    CC

This attack was unwarranted and un-called for...  Yet you do not call him out for it.

    Pot.  Kettle.  Black.
CaptainCouples...  If your ability to play a ranked round has been hampered since your last one on May 23rd, then I would like to apologize for accusing you of hiding.

I also believe your not-so-subtle attack on Tibbets quoted above was inappropriate.

    • Face it folks, WGT does not listen to us.  Too many great ideas have already fallen by the wayside.  We are asked for our input, but it mostly goes for naught.  It's clear they need some serious consultation from the best of us here, since it is evident that no one in the WGT staff is anywhere near competent enough at the game to really know how to set up a comprehensive ranking system that works.

    • Let this be a lesson to you WGT.  Your best player, who has been with you through 2 Charity Challenges, a closed Beta, and this open Beta, has lost all faith in you.  I've given my input time and time again, helped out other players, reported cheaters, done everything you've asked of me privately and publicly.

    • I can see now that my trust and faith in you has been misplaced.  Do what you will with the rankings, stats, and everything else.  I'll adapt to whatever cockeyed system you put in place just as I always have.  But do not expect much respect from this golfer when you give none yourself.

    • I will add that it there is no shame in admitting that you are in over your head with some things.

                "Get your facts straight."

I never accused CaptainCouples of hiding. You find me the quote where I said that.

In the meantime, before you go spouting your mouth in the forum using my name            in a derogatory way again, you'd better have your facts and quotes right, or I'll      have WGT suspend you for libel.

                Capiche son?

    Dear tibbets,

As the best player on WGT you are in a position to be the leader. As the leader you may be required to adapt the following list of skills. Here is the short list: ...be Adaptable; provide Balance; build Trust; Communicate well with others; support the Community; show Confidence; be Creative; give Dedication; show Empathy; provide Enthusiasm; have Ethics;  share Honesty; be Influential; show Initiative; ...share Knowledge of all situations; Many of these you do well, some may have room for improvements. Like some of your personal qualities such as: (passion, humor, and empathy strength of character, general maturity, patience, wisdom, common sense, trustworthiness, reliability, creativity, sensitivity). Please think of these as you continue to dominate the WGT and lead these poor souls to the ultimate goal of an albatross.

With all of your skills, knowledge and abilities, Is it really necessary that you conduct yourself in this manner both privately and publicly? As the best player in the world of WGT I am sure you have other options available to you. Like using the credit card they gave you to by an envelope and a stamp. Or send WGT Admin an e-mail. Or even pick up the phone and cal them to discuss privately your frustrations

    Thank you,
