No pun and no offence intended, but:

What do you guys think of
    - the Act of Union 1707 and
    - the Act of Union 1800

which - AFAIK - joined three countries to one, resulting in one sovereign and one parliament for the three ancient kingdoms?

Is this not the current political reality, resulting in a common flag, the Union Flag?

We have our own parliament in Scotland .

Perhaps the only way for us to get a Scottish flag is to vote yes in September's independence referendum ?

    SamanthaWho:

There has to be a reason behind this, has anyone just asked Icon or Shoe to find out why?

I've asked Icon to look at this thread.

    WoodenHands:

From a cynical point of view , could it be that changing the flag would bring in no revenue ?

I don't think it has anything to do with revenue but more to do with efficiency and getting things done. Often it's the simplest of things which take WGT a long time to get around to and this is one of them.

Until all countries in the UK are declared one country (which will never happen) then it's irrelevant. Political opinions would be off-topic. What we want is the flags of our countries represented as is recognized in the game of golf all over the world.

    CerinoDevoti:

It's possible WGT uses the United Nations Member State List as a guide.

That is quite possible but if that is the case then they ought to be looking at a new list which reflects the game of golf and all countries fairly and equally.

It's possible WGT uses the United Nations Member State List as a guide. I mention this because when I looked at the list, England, Northern Ireland, Scotland and Wales are not listed individually.

I thought of that, too, but in this list, the British crown dependencies Isle of Man, Jersey and Guernsey are missing, which have their own entries in WGT's list. Independent from this discussion, add the Cook Islands and Antarctica, among quite a few others.

Yet I'm convinced that the company follows an official list which again may be kept as a business secret.

Any part which eventually becomes independent from the UK should then get it's own entry.

    BTW: <snip> (edited)

    Hi

I checked with our team and there are no plans to change the current flags. I know it's not the answer you guys were hoping for, but that's all I got:(

Can i ask why not ?

After all in the interests of realism it would be the right thing to do , as has been mentioned numerous times all the pro's have the actual flags beside their names .

Edit : Before anyone says , i know this isn't real golf but it's marketed as "the most realistic sports game on the web"

I remember seeing the thread asking for that , so it's nice to see some ideas are eventually implemented.

I understand that WGT may be more focused on making changes to the game while it's BETA to make improvements which benefit all players and adding these flags wouldn't affect most players so it may be be considered less of a priority.

Having said that imagine the uproar if we removed the US flag and they had to adopt Canada, Cuba or Mexico? It's easy not to care when it's someone else's problem.

There's definitely been a strong reaction in the forums and enough threads on this subject to indicate that (even if it doesn't matter to WGT) it matters to those players it affects.

The simplicity of what's involved is mind-boggling. It could be done so quickly and so easily.

I would have thought for a company that's supposedly forward-thinking and wants to keep paying customers satisfied that such a simple request could be carried out without a second thought.

So please WGT, respectfully let's nip this in the bud.

    +1

The most realistic sports game on the web ( WGT's words not mine ) should surely be able to implement such a basic , albeit much needed , request .
