The best driver ever available on this site was offered to the lucky ones but not everyone.  It's very hard to compete with peashooters like the SLDR, G 20,  and Hot whatever it is. In fairness to ev1 who spends countless hours and money's ( credits or real cash) it would be the only fair thing to do.  Raise the price if that's what needs to be done. It's not like its a real inventory of actual goods or anything.  Seems kind of "clicky" to me, but probably just me.

I know several players who worked very hard to get to level 93 when the offer was available last July August - where were you.

SLDR aint a p shooter. I had and still do and I got almost all the way to TL with it and could place and win RGs ith it.

I was 50 k away from being at level 93  when they changed it to level 97 to be eligible for the R1. Just dumb luck or what, I just recently made it to level 94 and seems it will  take forever to get to level 97. I am currently 145 k away from being at level 95. I would like to see WGT make a change and put it back to a lower level. I play against Legends and Tour legends who has the R1 and they blow by my drive constantly. And if memory serves me well, it was at level 93 and one of my friends was only a few thousand xp points away from making level 93 and wgt move the requirements to level 94 and he ended up settling  for the SLDR instead. Then he made level 94, and bought the the R1, and of course, I just made level 93, so it was still of of reach for me. half way to level 94, Wgt raised it to level 97. really just doesn't seem fair, but it's their prerogative to change the price at will. Guess I use my SLDR until I reach level 97 or just get bored or tired of beating my head on my keyboard, and just stop playing all together. At least they have opened the new course to help spice the game up, I and many of my friends skype while playing and many of us are just finding it hard to select a course to play because we are getting board with the same ole same ole, if you know what I mean. No point in beating a dead horse anymore.

To be fair, cdefghi, you are luckily only 2 levels (though very long) from the Big Bertha Alpha (it also goes 287, like the R1). Also, consider the R11s Driver that goes 284 you have recently unlocked. If you like somewhat fast meter speeds (it's the same as the VForgeds at L97), I'd get that one.

I beg to differ vis-a-vis the Big Bertha Alpha Driver. I own both the SLDR and L98 R1 driver and rented the Big Bertha in the recent Masters free rental period. The BB is nowhere near the R1, it is consistently 5 yds shorter and it's much touted higher trajectory, well just isn't. It hits all the trees the R1 does. The only time it has even a slight advantage is in massive tailwinds on the Links courses and more often than not that advantage is limited or nullified by the drive face planting into the upslope of a ridge / hill in the fairway.

To my mind and from my experience the BB Alpha driver is a close competitor to the SLDR but not the R1.

They had the 98 R1 at level 93 on 2 occasions for about a week each time.  After that it has only been available at level 98.

As far as the 89 SLDR and the 88 BB, there is nothing wrong with either driver.  I have friends who have the R1  and I stay with them.  But what a lot of you guys and ladies tend to forget, your driver isn't what got you to Legend.  Its ALL your shots combined.   You can drive the ball a mile, but if you cant put he ball in the right place on the green then your drive is negated.

And TBH, sometimes on some of the courses, if you're not careful you'll drive yourself into playing scramble golf because you over drove the hole.  And if you get your first shot out of line, then its scramble golf.  I've heard it said  " If you make 3 bad shots and one good shot, you can still make par".  I beg to differ, It depends on when those bad shots are made. One great shot may save your par...if you make it in the hole with that shot.
