After all these years I finally got a new computer, and boy did I outdo myself.

Two CPU's running at 3.3 ghz.  FSB 1666;  Dual core for each CPU

has the ability to run dual video cards, only one installed.

HD specs, write speed, 275 MB/sec

    Windows 7-64 bit OS.

However, I find the playability of this site is ridiculous.  In my opinion I should have no issues as the computer exceeds minimum requirement  100 fold.

    I did the flash test and scored, 24000;

So why is my meter so inconsistent.

    FWIW

I use a Dell laptop w/ 2G RAM and Comodo Dragon browser is the smoothest.

Then Maxthon, then IE but I never use Chrome.

(results will vary from user to user)

But those are the only 4 browsers I have tested.

    Good luck in any case.

The Sony Vaio laptop that I play WGT on is over 10 years old. It is running Windows Vista for crying out loud. It has been extremely well maintained. Constantly updated and whatnot. I find my meter runs smooth for the most part. I will get an occasional skip here and there. I use the latest Chrome with pepperflash disabled. I also use an older version of Flash. 12.0.0.77.

Look at how many applications/processes are running in the background on your computer. Shut down those not needed to play WGT.

Make sure the Flash Player Website Privacy Settings panel has no web sites listed in it.

Here are some other things you can do:

    Smooth Meter

Last Nov., I bought a very high priced gaming computer that was 5x what this game required. It sucked!!! I returned it 2 days later, and went back to this 10 year old desktop with Vista,  2.30ghz processor, and 3gb ram. I clean it completely every time I log out from WGT (CCleaner, Advanced Uninstaller, Adobe, and AdvancedSystemCare), run malware and virus scans daily, and I've had "maybe" 5 meter glitches in 15 months. I also use Comodo IceDragon. Chrome works on this computer, but Chrome is Google, and Google is bad news, and therefore not allowed on this baby. I have IE completely disabled and non-functioning, also. Nothing can automatically update, either. I'll spend $500.00 replacing parts on this one before I ever buy a new one. The big chains aren't even allowed to sell computers that don't have Win8 or 8.1. And, the fact that Win 8 and 8.1 are designed primarily for ipads, phones, touch screens, etc, and NOT for desktops is why Microsoft is laying off 18,000+ workers. When something isn't broken, don't 'fix it". Just my opinion.

Well, I needed a new computer.  XP operating system is not supported by Microsoft any more.  Windows 7 seemed to be the logical choice.

Secondly, I needed the much needed horsepower under the hood for number crunching and the old computer was not cutting it very well.   Now, compared to what I was using and what I have now, this computer, runs 20 times faster.

What I am about the say may may sit well with WGT, but it is my opinion that your source code needs to be rewritten from scratch.  No way in heck should a computer with this much horsepower should have any problems with this site.

This site boast that this platform will run in any browser.  However, not every browser is the same.... hmmmm..., we all know browsers are not the same.

Secondly, if there are settings that are browser related they should be communicated, not via the forms, but in your troubleshooting section.

I use the Palemoon browser which I download specifically for windows 7-64 bit.

If anyone here uses firefox, you may be familiar with its profile manager.  I have devised a profile that I only use when I use this site.  Its pretty much bare bones.

Not sure if this would help, but maybe try an older version of flash.

That is a good question with regards to which version of flash to use.

Adobe, comes out with updates to improve its functionality, and to address vulnerabilities, and security issues.  So, in my opinion why use an older version of flash, if it could result in vulnerability in your computer security.

I honestly think it has nothing to do with your pc.. I play on a 4-5 yr old HP laptop w/2gb ram also.. some days my meter is smooth as silk, others it shakes like a dog shittin peach seeds.

Absolutely agree 100% Infinito!! Having followed your posts for many years now I know you're one of the most computer/PC literate guys around.  Your score of 24,000 on the flash benchmark test indicates just how well your system and browser work with complex Flash animations. No way should you need to tweak your system to get a smooth meter.

Given the simple nature of the WGT meter animation there is only one reason your system could have meter problems.

That reason is the WGT design and implementation of the meter animation.  It is too hypersensitive to any work being done by our processors.  It needs to be rewritten from scratch as you said.  And following the Adobe Flash optimization guidelines.

BTW, what processor and video card did you get?
