    :-(

    cpu mark = 1719
    rank =     883

    graphics card mark = 22
    rank = 896

If I understand it correctly, there are only 21 graphic cards worse than mine, lol.

    Thank you!!

Afraid to see where my sad cpu and graphics card place in that list :-)

I was afraid to check my own personal laptop. It is old for its time but I have not seen any issues with the swing meter. I'll take a look into this matter and try testing on other desktops/laptops.

    Here is an interesting question.

It is safe to assume that there are other members on this site with computers comparable to, and / or better than mine.  Yet, with all the hoopla about the meter it should give WGT incentive to gather information, and do a comparative study.

They are the founders of this site, and should be very much aware of its requirements, as well as how to adjust settings that can directly influence the playability of their site.

It shouldn't be left  the member to optimize their computer, but WGT publishing quidelines as what is required and what changes are needed to improve playability.

I agree that there are infinite combinations of hardware, and software loaded onto ones' computer.  Thus the task of generating a set of guidelines may prove difficult, but there should be one common theme.

Not everyone here are computer experts, and surely not me either.

What about those that have computers not as good as yours, that don't have meter issues?

I use Windows 7 running on a Dell Optiplex 760 that has an Intel Core Duo E7400 CPU that has 6 GB of DDR2 RAM.

WGT has no control over how well the players computer is maintained.

Welcome to the 21st century and the Internet. The are certain basics that computer users need to be aware of.

It's like knowing what routine maintenance needs to be done to a car, and doing the routine maintenance. If you blow off doing the routine maintenance, don't be surprised when the car doesn't run at peak performance.

In your case with having a new computer, it's about you configuring your computer to play WGt as smoothly as possible.

As bad as my "score" is, I must say I have a smooth meter 99% of the time. I even have a fairly poor internet connection (5mbps download 0.45 mbps upload). I do have to log out after a long period of playing to clear everything, though. I can tell my graphics card is getting tired, and I just clean everything, wait a bit, and log back in.

Let us know how the tests come back, please.

Well, I needed a new computer.  XP operating system is not supported by Microsoft any more.  Windows 7 seemed to be the logical choice.

Secondly, I needed the much needed horsepower under the hood for number crunching and the old computer was not cutting it very well.   Now, compared to what I was using and what I have now, this computer, runs 20 times faster.

What I am about the say may may sit well with WGT, but it is my opinion that your source code needs to be rewritten from scratch.  No way in heck should a computer with this much horsepower should have any problems with this site.

This site boast that this platform will run in any browser.  However, not every browser is the same.... hmmmm..., we all know browsers are not the same.

Secondly, if there are settings that are browser related they should be communicated, not via the forms, but in your troubleshooting section.

I use the Palemoon browser which I download specifically for windows 7-64 bit.

If anyone here uses firefox, you may be familiar with its profile manager.  I have devised a profile that I only use when I use this site.  Its pretty much bare bones.

I'm a firefox browser fan also bro, try  cyberfox i was using palemoon also and started having issues later on this setup has been good for me,i use gamebooster 3 red,but dont really need to meter smooth with or without. Also i use bluehell firewall 2.3.0 from download.com    -cnet  is lightweight adblocker/security all in one. This my setup works for me worth a shot. My laptop running win7 on wifi hate win 8....4gb ram 2.40mhz adjust visuals for best performance and just retick icons cause pain in the ass not having preview for pics. Hope helps.

You missed the whole point of this thread.

    • Its not just a new computer, its a new "super-computer" with oodles of power.
    • His computer does a fantastic job handling the complex Flash animations in the Flash Benchmark test
    • The WGT meter is a simple, small, progress bar Flash animation.
    • So why is he having issues with the meter?

Its a fair question for WGT.  He should have no issues and no tweaking necessary.

Let me see if I can shed some light on this. Here is the PC I have had for about 5 years now.Compaq Presidio, Windows 7, AMD Athlon II X2 240 Processor, 2.80Ghz, 64 bit, 3 GB ram, Nividia GForce Graphics card with a GB of ram in it also.

First thing I had learned was to go into my System Configuration and uncheck all the programs from starting when my PC boots up. I have one thing checked to start that is for my sound card I installed. If you want to use any programs you have you can start them from your start menu. Any program I have I go into settings and make sure it doesn't start when pc is started. I also uncheck that it isn't sent to the system tray when I close a program. I also make sure it asks me when to install an update. I have one thing running in my system tray. That is Norton 360. Here is a great Tutorial on what I am talking about.

Always remember to click Apply and OK. For you all that have Intel Processors do like the guy said and leave those checked in processes and start up tab.

Another tip is to uninstall any Java programs you have. You do not need Java on your PC unless, see the links. I have Iobit Uninstaller and noticed all these versions of Java on my PC. So I thought I would start from scratch by uninstalling them. I did and boy what a difference in my meter. As I said I used Iobit  Uninstaller. Just using your uninstaller in your control panel does not get rid of everything and can leave some problems. Iobit's uninstaller has a power scan after it uninstalls. It will show you what was left. You then check all of them and delete them. Usually they are registry files. If you uninstall all your Java and need it somewhere, it will tell you and you can install it then. I have had no trouble browsing the web since I got rid of Java and have not been asked to install it anywhere on the web. Here are some links on that subject:

Last tip is I have used Advanced Systemcare Pro 7 now, for years. They have an Ultimate which has the antivirus protection. Don't get that one if you already have an antivirus program. 2 antivirus programs running at the same time will cause lots of issues and meter trouble. Shop around and get the best price. Usually some good deals that can be used for 3 pc's. There is a free version but doesn't work as well as the pro. Or maybe you can find a cracked version on You Tube or somewhere. I have found the scans that help the most everyday is the Registry Fix, make sure you go into settings and and check to use the Pro scan or deep clean. Also the Smart Ram Clean in the Toolbox tab helps. Just click on Smart Ram, then click on GO and then run the Smart Clean and then the Deep Clean. Do the Deep clean a few times.

I've helped a  lot of players by using these steps while on Skype using the share screen function. Makes it so much easier what to tell someone what to do and to see what needs to be done.

I have been using the most updated flashplayer for a long time now and I have used all the browsers with little or no trouble at all. I find Comodo Dragon and Ice Dragon the best. I use them for the game only. I use IE for my default browser. The meter on IE tends to get half way down and then speeds up. So I quit using it for the game. If your using a browser for just the game, disable all the add ons or plugins, except Flash player. The Chrome based browsers use a Pepper Flash. You need to disable that. I will post a link for that also. You may have to check to make sure it is kept disabled because it was enabled once on me and I don't know how. Remember, you can disable all the plugins except the flash player.

Type about:plugins in the address bar and press enter. This will get you into the plugins to disable them.
