Here's an idea Icon..  A bit self-serving but not completely.

How about a free rental weekend so that we can play around with different wedges.. Maybe find a set that works better for us with the new changes.  Win-Win  :)

IF everyone wants the game to be 'more realistic' it should be made harder.  I mean that I aint rubbish at this but come-on, seriously, how can someone score low 50's around Pinehurst??

The real pros would be chuffed with a mid 60.......just saying.

    DaddysKat:

How about adding the "unplayable lie" option (like they have in real golf)?

YES! This has been clear for some time but maybe hard to program. The thing is that in RL you can declare an unplayable lie at any time, anywhere, as I understand - it's entirely subjective - as long as you take the penalty accordingly. There are lots of places on WGT where the player would prefer this to taking the automatic drop that is offered.

Then the next thing to fix is to allow the player to choose where to take the drop. This was available back in the old Links game in the 1990s.

Having said that, I haven't tried out the new rough parameters yet, but from what I'm reading wgt has gone way overboard and needs to dial it back a bit.

Not really, IMO. After a good dose of rough shots at Oakmont to figure out what's different and 4 AS matches later I'm beginning to see the logic. Sand play notwithstanding, all of a sudden there's a premium on fairways. Where before I was fearless about finding any rough, now I'm thinking "I don't know what to expect so pay attention."

During one of the matches I found myself in the 30-40 fescue off the back of the Road Hole green, 10 yards away. Now that used to be an easy up and down pitch to a gimme. Suffice to say, it isn't any more. Now you have to know you're going to roll regardless of what you do and you have to play for it. Infinitely more difficult compared to what it used to be.

What does blow, though, is 5+ years of doing it one way only to have to relearn strategies. Not a bad thing when you think about it but lazy is gonna cost more now.  LOL

Just been playing a few more of the rough shots and i gotta say it's absolutely awful. It's not realistic at all.

What kind of change are you seeing?

Just no spin what so ever. It's actually running up hill on the greens like i've ran after it and hit it again.

Meh... It is what it is.  Might as well go figure out the new numbers.

It only took me a ball to figure out the new pitch yardages (I only pitch with one wedge, punch or full for everything else) in 3 types of rough from 5 yds to 17 yds.

Punch numbers are going to take considerably longer though.  I hope they don't change it again though.  That would suck having to do all of this again with how many balls it's going to take.   Now that I think about it... maybe that was their thinking all along?
