    Team USA wins 3&2.

    After a lengthy delay due to technical problems, ColumbusStorm got us underway in style with a shot that rolled along the lip of the bunker and came to rest inside 5 feet from the hole. razza31 and I were on the back of the green and Corwyn just missed an 18-footer, while Russ was able to convert. 1up USA.

    Hole 11 was difficult as always. Russ was right of the green, Corwyn in rough 30-some yards short, razza couldn't quite stay on the front, and I hit to the center some 33 feet away. I two-putted and no one else could get up and down. 2up USA.

    On hole 12, I'd like to modestly submit my drive as JoeMaverick's best competition for the shot of the tournament. With a strong right-to-left wind, I hit about halfway up the slope on the right side of the fairway... and you can judge the results for yourself. Russ hit a very similar shot but wound up 7 feet behind the hole and couldn't make it, while Corwyn was just short of the green and razza ran to the back. I tapped in for eagle to put USA 3up through three.

    That was the final margin, as we halved the next four holes. Corwyn hit some good shots and putts to keep ROW in the game, but unfortunately razza didn't really get anything going until the 18th hole after the match was over.

    Russ cranked out an astonishing five birdies, counting the last two holes.

    There was no real way back for us after the first 3 holes, but in truth we were demolished. mm and Russ complemented each other fantastically, playing great golf. They'd obviously done their homework, and plotted their way around with skill and creativity.

    My putting woes continued*, with a lip-out from 18ft on #10 for the half after Russ' superb 2nd shot; and indeed I had an 8 footer on #16 that was pushed that could have extended it, and another lip-out on #17 but by then the match was over. I was pleased with this 3W from miles away on #13.

    Congratulations, you two. A well-earned point for Team USA, bringing the overall match score to:

    Team USA 3   |  Team ROW 10

    * My putter did decide to come good at Congo, where I hot-footed it straight from our 4Ball at Chambers Bay, to squeeze in the TIO VT May event R2 just before deadline...

    Very sad to hear about these personal circumstances Paul, and of course we understand the situation. You will be missed! But mm is an excellent sub for Team USA to have on hand. Thanks for stepping in for another game mm... just know that you don't have to play as well as you did tonight!

    Took about half an hour to get started. Russ would only play if we let them win, which explains the scoreline.

    I know anyone who's seen me playing this tournament won't believe this, but I just won my singles match against Fairwayruepel68 (Marc) !!   (I even made a few good shots.)

    As always a pleasure to go a round with Marc. He ran into some bad luck with the putter but believe me I was sweating it out the whole way.

    The turning point was the 5th hole where I ran a 3wd 216yds up the right side and left the birdie putt teetering on the edge of the cup; While Marc went over the green with his second shot, came up short with his pitch back, and just missed his par from 12ft.

    The fifth hole started a run of winning 5 holes in a row which included birdies on 8 and 9.

    Marc got one back on 12 with a nifty bank shot off the right hand rough to put him on the green and a 2 putt birdie took the hole.

    I won the battle of the 12ft par putts on 14 to go back to 4up

    And we ended the match with 2 beautiful birdie putts on the par 3 15th.

    I streamed the match on twitch (if you'd like to see my good side)

    I also streamed our four-ball match (for those who want to see my worst)

    Well done, Dave! Beating Marc is quite the scalp, after all those birdies he made in the fourball. And thank you too for streaming. I, for one, am really enjoying catching up with the matches.

    I thought there might be a big Team USA comeback: seems like you're finally on a roll.

    Overall match score now stands at:

    Team USA 4   |  Team ROW 10

    At 8pm tonight, WGT time, we have:

    Foursomes Match C ::  ColumbusStorm & mmyers0   vs       mkrizan86 & razza31

    ... and just 4 more matches to complete, with 2 of them fully confirmed. Any news yet on the last two... ?

    Fourball Match D ::  Wesdogg75 & fredsf                vs        JoeMaverick & pierolitfiba

    &

    Singles Match H ::        Wesdogg75                  vs              MatildaIgaly

    -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

    If anyone wants to practice tonight, I'll be looking for a partner at the same time. Let me know!
