With the complete understanding that WGT is not changing the payout rate, I'll just add my own thoughts:

    1. On the whole, I believe this change to be a bad idea on a number of levels. As a frequent RG player and occasional winner, the payout restructuring will probably be mostly beneficial to me - assuming RG participation remains steady.  If instead, as already appears to be the case, I have to wait more than 24 hours to play in another RG, then ultimately, from my own purely selfish standpoint, I will still be less well off than I was under the old system, where I could sometimes enter the same tournament twice in a given day.

That speaks to my largest concern, which is whether RG participation will increase or even stay the same. The entry fees haven't changed - which only means that WGT's revenues - which may be marginal from RG's anyway - will potentially be decreased. I'll admit I have no idea how WGT uses the RG's in their business model, but under any analysis, I'm guessing less players is not good.

    2. Which brings me to my second point, which is why? I hadn't seen a clamor from players for a more divided payout structure. What is the driving force behind the change?

Again, I'll be the first to admit that I have openly questioned changes WGT has made (such as levels) but the game continues onward.  I just don't see the purpose in this one, but maybe there is a very good reason. I'm just at a loss as to what it is. I mean, you never hear people complaining about too many courses or too smooth a meter. :). Yet recently we've gotten sports drinks and a revamped RG structure that seems to be driving people away. I have derived hundreds of hours of fun with the game, I don't begrudge the idea of making money - I'm just not sure how this accomplishes that. I really do hope it all works out well.

    3. Suggestions?

I'm not opposed to the tiered RG's, I think that is, at least, a good idea for players who want the level playing field. Maybe those RG's could keep the new payout? Maybe increase the entry fee for Legend RG's? (200 credits each, maybe)? Not sure.

Anyway, I hope it all works out.

    C

Thanks for moving this thread into the correct category.  I appreciate your encouraging us to give this change more of a chance.  I think and I can only speak for myself is that we feel like we(the players that are good but certainly not the elite) took a direct hit and were the target.  I appreciate the great players on this site as Ive had the privledge of playing with many and learning from them and truthfully if I were as good as those guys and gals  I might keep playing ready go's in the new system also, but even they I think would see their earnings take a hit as fewer and fewer ready go's become available, but we will have to wait and see on that.  But I really think the bigger issue and perhaps what WGT has failed to see is that ultimately fewer new players will ever enter ready go tournaments and I think it is there that you lose the greatest potential revenue stream.  They are the ones that are buying the credits to upgrade clubs and enter tournaments.  I can only imagine if I was a "newbie" to the site and started playing and my average decreased and was watching and thinking about entering readygos and testing my abilities against the best what would I think.  In that anaysis considering that I  have to finish at or near the top to make anything would I ever even take the plunge.  I remember feeling that pit in my stomach when I first entered my first ready go and saw 100 credits vanish and the pressure I felt sweating over that 5 footer on the last hole.  Cant even remember what I shot or how I finished but it was that thrill that makes this game great its the similar feeling in the real game of golf.  That is what will lure and attract the most players to pay to play.  But the fact of the matter was I did consider the following, heck I only have to shoot a couple under a side(that was a while ago) then to get my credits back so at least I have a chance.  Im not sure under the current system I would still have taken the plunge.

Looks like we know who headed up the committee for the change in payout rates.

    Thanks WGTIcon...

More brilliant ideas like this will find you in the unemployment line.

Believe me... if people don't play these...they will change it.

I did a -6 on a 9 hole St Andrews and I did not get my money back. I rarely do better than that so I see no point in playing the RG's no more. I've spent 400c on them yesterday and won back less than half in spite of some pretty decent rounds.

I will give them another try though, but the biggest problem is that if you have a winner on 28 shots, 6-7 ppl on 29 there is no credits left for the rest to share.

I am in.  No more RG's for me.

When TOP players like Bollox, Cyl, Lvietri, TallAcePaul, NCVIZ and others say this is a bad idea, and allegedly you listen to your customers, who exactly are you listening to?

Put another way.  What are you on?

erm, freedom of speech anyone?  Has there been a North Korean takeover at WGT?

I think it is safe to assume that icon meant to say the RG payout structure is not up for consideration. But you are absolutely right, the incorrect wording certainly makes it sound like a lot of wgt sponsored timeouts are coming soon to a login box near you (and you, and you, and you ...), lol.

If enough people stopped playing them, then suddenly it would be back up for consideration.

It seems clear that a discussion has taken place to squeeze more credits out of the majority of players.

I rarely won my money back on the RGs anyway, but wasn't too worried about paying for more credits to splash on the RGs (and balls). Now I will only invest credits for balls and small credit wagers in my CC.

Personally, I would not worry about the new RG pay out if there could be some RGs with a 50 cr buy in.
