Having played Pebble a number of times for real the greens here seem pretty accurate. On the course the slopes are not that severe, and thus the breaks not crazy, but the grain is a huge factor and results in a lot of unusual breaks and movement that must be accounted for .... a local caddy is indispensable. The 3-5' putts here maintain the challenge with a little more break to deal with. There always is some wind, fog is prevalent, flat lies are rare and the greens are very small .... resulting in a most challenging course: playing here in UEL is a much more realistic experience. If they could just turn on the fog to simulate the heavy air,  have the wind come consistantly from the right direction and have 3 pin positions per hole, (would be pretty lame at this stage to have a single fixed spot) it would complete the experience. But all in all a fun round here.

The opening stretch is always pretty tame, 1-5 are manageable, but things pick up at #6 which plays easier here then irl....it is hard to line up that 2nd shot up the hill and you usually end up way left. 7 is all about the weather, can go either way. 8 is strange, I never recall a worry about driving through the fairway ... just aim for the rock and let her go, but here it is real concern; 2nd shot always a thing of beauty. 9 & 10 play as tough as can be with 10 having a sloped fairway full length that is hard to hold. 11 appears easy but has a weird fairway orientation off the tee,, and like the 2nd shot on 6 here, will play much easier as you get the aerial and advance views you cannot see from the course. 12 is a straightforward par 3, the bunker up front gets plenty of action. 13 is uphill and pretty straight, but has the hardest green to putt on the course with severe slope to the ocean. 14 is #1 handicap, a long dogleg right par 5 with a 2 tier green. You can catch your breath on 15, pretty easy P4. 16 is hard, but will likely play easy here on even lies as the fairway lie for long drives is eliminated. 17 into the wind is just brutal, the green is shallow as it runs parellel to the tee and well bunkered. 18 takes two well placed shots to tame it, a thing of beauty. Bring on the back 9 WGT !

If there is 50/60 Rough around the greens I will find it   lol.

Wind off the tee on the 1st took me way left.  Actually it's good it did because it's the first time I've noticed the houses over there.

Here's the Replay and View 3 will show the Nice house and garden.  Can you Imagine sitting on the balcony of the house and watching the 1st green.

Putzed around on it a few holes every day, I would say the release was rushed it was no where near ready for play, maybe the worse course release yet tons of bugs to be fixed, not to mention the baby tees thing is annoying.

You have done a real good job of describing the course in real life!  Back in the day I caddied there when the pro tour came thru, the old Bing Crosby Pro-Am.  Pros back then didn't hit 300 yd. drives on Pebble with the heavy air and lush no-roll fairways. And I never saw a pro come close to reaching # 6 in two.

These great old courses like Pebble are not the same with today's high tech equipment and balls. Several of the tees have been pushed back over the years but there is only so much real estate.

you need to put the crack pipe down.....or bottle of scotch.... or whatever is making you a cranky curmudgeon.

its perfect.....at least as wgt goes.....

Baby tees - wtf are you talking about - that is the course (sorry if you have used your cash to buy clubs that are too long for the course).  Front 9 plays shortish - always has always will.  its all about the elements in Monterey chief.

I live 30 mins from the course, played it more times than I want to remember (lol) and would say its lovely to play on wgt with perfect sunny weather....every day..   It has the same problem as with all WGt courses...the wind.  I mean come the fk on- wind prevails from a certain direction - can't you freaks figure this out?!!!!!  That is the most annoying thing about this game.  actually hate it - loath it entirely.  you could leave all the other bugs in this game if only you fixed this one simple, easily corrected implementation issue.  you can't really say "the most realistic golf game" if the wind shifts 180 degrees from hole to hole....makes no sense and baffles the mind.  Really I would like to know why this is a "feature" - what rationale is behind how the wind works here on wgt.  Whatever it is, its lame and needs attention.

Pebble Beach, #4, view from the green back toward the tee. If I bought that gorgeous house on the left, do you think Clint Eastwood would pay my membership fee? Maybe throw in a customized cart with a built in ice chest?
