Thanks for that John, much appreciated.

I'm not sure this Rod would describe himself as hot lol, but I've sent you a friend request if you want to have a chat.

    Cheers

I am a country club owner and i do not steal members from others clubs. That is  wrong plain and simple. there are to many people with no country club , i ask them.

I'm very pleased to hear it, neither do we.

We don't take something from the owner ( as last time I checked the owner owns the club, not the players who occupy it), we offer something to the player.

If you'd like to have a conversation about this, we've moved over to the Fiefdoms & fallacies post.

Hi Rob, many thanks for the constructive criticism, it make a refreshing change I have to be honest.. And I appreciate your opinion. I've written quite extensively elsewhere regarding recruitment, and this "thing" so many call poaching, and I'm guessing you've read it; but if not you can read them here

Whilst I can see both points of view my feeling is that I think you have a right to ask anyone if they want to join your club even if they currently belong to another club, freedom of choice. I certainly wouldn't be thankful of criticism regarding 'poaching' from someone who is a hypocrite. Rob was once the owner of my Camelot C.C. (Not as Kanga but when he was in one of his many feminine guises) and was not averse to 'poaching' players from other clubs as you can see from this statement he made below:

".....There are CC's on here that have definitely heard of Camelot, and are trying to poach.

    I don't blame them for a minute...it’s exactly what I do.

There's something a little more sweet about luring someone away from their current CC to join yours..."

The old saying 'Pot calling the kettle black' springs to mind once again

    Good luck

    Rich

Thanks for that Rich; sorry, I missed your post

    thesupernova:

I am an owner of a small but very cozy Country Club and my recruitment is done  mostly through referrals from my current members.

Although I do not  send C.C. invites to  members currently in a club I do not get up in arms if another club "schmoozes"with one of my members. And if a member of mine leaves ...then apparently i did not do enough to keep them.  .

My feathers do not get ruffled if I find another club either advertising on my members wall or sending them CC invites (although it hasn't happened often if ever) .........that is called free enterprise .

I do find though  that using the practice of sending as many invites as possible and see what sticks on the  wall a bit lazy .To have a well founded Country Club with quality members takes time  effort screening and word of mouth.

I prefer quality and not quantity in my Country Club and in membership recruitment.

I prefer to have a smaller club as that philosophy makes my club more user friendly and intimate ..........I can be more available to smaller numbers.

    It's all math .

Number of members..hours in a day days in a week.

    So in summation

    Freedom of Choice

    Free Enterprise.

And most importantly  don't take an online game too seriously.

    Have fun!

    Life is way too short.

    Smiles

Thanks Aliie, it's refreshing to read words of rationale and pragmatism on this topic.

    Onwards and upwards,

    DAZZA501:

While i wish you all the best with your country club and what you're trying to do Roddy, poaching/attempted poaching of other clubs members is a big no no here on wgt and is frowned upon by many players.

I would suggest you change your recruitment approach instead of sending out random invites to players already in clubs as you have done to some of my members.

    Dazza (Wooden Tee Owner)

In TOTAL agreement w you Dazza...very inappropriate indeed!  As the owner of Grande Oaks, your post on my wall was not welcome and inappropriate.  Suggest you do a bit of research before soliciting members of other clubs....not acceptable behavior here.

    Max

Hi Max, sorry to hear our post upset you; obviously when it came to the time to send you an invite, it wouldn't have gone through as you're an owner.

Clicking through to a players club (if they have one), on the off chance that they are an owner/director etc isn't additional time well spent, but as I say, I'm sorry I didn't know who you were. Perhaps if there was an indication on a players profile page that they were an owner or director it would avoid any unnecessary upset.

    Cheers

Surely he must have seen that Max is the owner of Grande Oaks !! Not that difficult to see really and to then post on his wall, well I call that not only rude, but crass stupidity too.

Unlikely that a CC owner will up sticks and join another CC, especially since Grande Oaks is a top CC without a doubt. Just goes to show that only perfunctory research is done before these wall posts are posted.
