Tamsach:
Westwood and Kaymer were not playing a decent round in a season and Clarke wasted his wild cards calling them. The last two holes played by Westwood have been a nightmare....
Indeed, Lee Westwood should have never been invited to participate, completely out of shape and his bad results are obvious, about Martin Kaymer, well, he is normally a very reliable player but he just not having any good day. Both of them have lost all their matches. I believe Westwood will also lose today although perhaps Kaymer can find the candle in the wind and get a point for Europe.
Isn't that the European Team captains (probably all captains in the Ryder Cup) picks are mainly friends they hang around with & preferentially from the same country? There were obviously several other players in much better shape to choose from.
What are all those Ryder Cup "vice captains" doing for their teams?, not much but looking pretty hanging around & driving in the buggies pretending to be connected with the captain, I would say, there are completely useless. Yup, two heads think certainly better than one head, BUT 20 heads do NOT necessarily think better than two.
What the hell can you tell for example Mickelson about playing a match in the Ryder Cup??, absolutely nothing, he already knows all the tricks in the book!. Same as for the most of the players who already have been there.
Those guys out there playing golf do not need advice of how to play or shot the ball, they do this every single day in their lives!
Prestige is what drive those captain & vice captains to be around every the Ryder Cup event, it looks cool to have that even in your CV....what did you do last year Mr, Woods, Bjorn, etc?, well, I was helping our team in the Ryder Cup, giving advice and taken some important decisions for the team ; )))...really?...completely useless they are.
Ok, apologies, no more venting about those horrible Ryder Cup vice captain jobs...LOL
