I won't miss it since I never play it.  I only do random MP, and there's two things that setting it to random won't do - put you on the back 9 of any course, and put you on Oakmont.

    So long.

Picture a very proud Country Club......

They let WGT use their course, then it changes through the years, those saplings have grown ever so slightly, the club have improved the aesthetics, the bunkers have been moved, those standard trees have grown or the greens and tee boxes changed. Now Do WGT images show that, no thats impossible.

So could they then think "our course is a darn sight better than the one you lot use, come and take all your photos again, or get stuffed".

Just another idea, seems WGT wont ever tell us.

    WGTicon:

    Hi,

Our agreement with the course has ended, so it’s no longer playable on WGT.

    -WGTicon

is that really all you have to say???

The biggest announcement by WGT in 10 years sandwiched between some irrelevant information.

    Gobsmacked.

Hate to be the bearer of bad news.  That is not the Oakmont that was on here. Wrong side of the country.  No wonder it looked so much different to you.

    Try this one instead

shouldn't the course still be available through the relationship with the USGA?

Well, I'll be damned. I just played 18 at Oakmont. Bogeyed the last hole after a weak first putt, but finished with a 66.

Turns out, I'd set up the course for a club tournament. Didn't expect it would work, but I teed it up anyway...and it played just fine.

If anyone wants to take one last stab at it, feel free to join The Golf Masters Club and play this week's Medalist Trophy. If you want to quit the club after the round, no hard feelings whatsoever.

Damn, it felt like I was playing a ghost!

Don't know how long it will last, but it's on the club schedule until May 2.

With all due respect bubbsboy, your post makes me wonder how many WGT players actually play golf or know anything about it outside what they see through this virtual version of it.

Oakmont is a friggin' National Historic Landmark, not a retirement community in Sonoma County, CA.  It's where Nicklaus beat Pamer for his first major in 1962.  Host of nine United States Open Championshiips.  Add to that three PGA Championships, five U.S. Amateurs and two U.S. Women's Opens.

Hopefully WGT realized what an honor it was to be allowed to use their course.  To even set foot on it.  And they blew it.  A huge loss.  The lack of any explanation other than "our agreement ended" or apology to customers shows no respect for Oakmont or for us.

Without a doubt, the biggest WGT blunder of all time.

We surveyed our members a couple of times about courses, and they didn't like Oakmont.

It was one of my favorites.  Tough for sure, but fair.  I am sad to lose it.

WGT has been promoting new course for a long time (Erin Hills) and now they take one away.  They didn't know?  Getting cheap?

    Merion gone next?  Or Kiawah?

    We need some transparency here.
