Hate to be the bearer of bad news.  That is not the Oakmont that was on here. Wrong side of the country.  No wonder it looked so much different to you.

    Try this one instead

With all due respect bubbsboy, your post makes me wonder how many WGT players actually play golf or know anything about it outside what they see through this virtual version of it.

Oakmont is a friggin' National Historic Landmark, not a retirement community in Sonoma County, CA.  It's where Nicklaus beat Pamer for his first major in 1962.  Host of nine United States Open Championshiips.  Add to that three PGA Championships, five U.S. Amateurs and two U.S. Women's Opens.

Hopefully WGT realized what an honor it was to be allowed to use their course.  To even set foot on it.  And they blew it.  A huge loss.  The lack of any explanation other than "our agreement ended" or apology to customers shows no respect for Oakmont or for us.

Without a doubt, the biggest WGT blunder of all time.

I played golf, not now which is a shame for me.

Apologies as just linked wrong course without looking.

It was my explaination what was important, as we have no  comments from WGT so all second guessing.

Anyway im on various posts slagging Topgolf off for this.

    I even started one.

Sorry for my tone, I'm still miffed at WGT's handling of this,  Losing Oakmont is a bitter pill, it is the abrupt pulling of the plug without notice that is so annoying.  Utter disregard for customers, rude, not the way to run a business.  Add and i and run becomes ruin.  I will be spending as little as possible from this day forward.  The absolute minimum.  No clashes, no pay to enter events.  No after dark avatars.

Anyway, took your post as an opporunity to let the non-golfers of WGT know that Oakmont ain't just another golf course.

No, my fault for my haste in just googling Oakmont and linking it without checking. ;-)

We all miffed. They have ways of doing this........as usual.

    Hello,

When do your agreements with other courses end?  Would like to know so I can prioritize my play accordingly.

Oakmont was far and away my favorite course. I am just returning to the game and so very sad that it is gone. It was, in my opinion, the only course that acted "true".  The shots and rolls were always consistent, and the putts were always right. They may have been the hardest, but they acted as they should. Such a beautiful course, and so much fun to play. I saw many firsts on that course. It was the only one I would always play when an RG was on it. I have hours of bandicam footage on Oakmont. Will have to make some replays from it all.

Kinda dumb taking away a great course, and not bringing in another for the us open...or anytime soon. Disappointed to see it gone. My Dominator trophy will never get to (-18)54, it will forever read 55. What makes this even sader is that there are quite a few other courses that could go and no one would care. Those courses could all go at once, and it would never even come close to what Oakmont does.

It isn't if you know where to look. Plus, some of the holes will be part of the VUSO course WGT is fabricating for this year in lieu of a new course.

I understand your disappointment of course, but cannot get behind your sentiments about the removal of any other courses and who might miss them.

No other course (full or CTTH) should ever be removed from here in my opinion. If there's a course you don't like, don't play it. Simple. But I for one would miss any course that gets removed, especially the full 18 hole ones.

It's not as if WGT sat around saying "okay guys, we have to remove a course. Should it be Oakland or one of the others instead?" Oakland had to go for whatever reason, and we should all hope that no others do the same rather than suggesting "no one would care" if one of the ones you don't like did.

Jon Gruden might have something to say about this.  :-D
