Don't say say 54, but we might to saying that soon.

Great course for birds once you put the ball below the pin (which seems to be ever hole).

    Initial thoughts more to come.

This Virtual Tour is a big deal. Real world prizes, life changing expierences, but it seems to me that the scores are way to low for the realism of this game.

The VT seems to be geared for the few top level players with the best clubs, rulers, and all the time in the world to hit the ball.  For anyone under LVL 97 (Top equipment) , making the cut is very tuff let alone having a chance at winning.

A possible fix would be to apply a Shot Clock like on the PGA tour.  Even then the scores are going to be low, but it might help.

Would be nice if everyone was required to play with the same top level clubs in this thing. (choose your own ball) Now i know this is not going to happen, but it would make things a bit more interesting and fair. (due to the prizes involved)

Unfortunatley it will be at least a couple years before I have the equal setup as these 55ers as I am a measly lvl 93.  (that is a whole other subject -Time between lvl 91-97) Until then I will save my balls for consec day rounds and save up my money for a Ruler.

We need  a quicker green speed to combat the scores in real golf. 13 stimp greens mean nothing to  a ball that can slam dunk from 230 with a  3 iron. The virtual equipment has developed faster than the current green speed. We need 20 stimp to make the scores more in line with real golf. That green speed will effect  everything from approaches to bunker shots around the green.. The clubs out grew the green speed a long time back lol

WGT will never mainstream this but they could implement this idea for major comps and the  virtual tour on the single rounds

By letting the equipment overtake the green speed the  masses can now shoot lower and EXPECT to shoot lower which is an attraction! The game is a lot easier when you eliminate  the land and roll element and we have putters that are very precise.

Very easy way to toughen up conditions without tweaking  the graphics is to firm up the fairways  so the rough comes into play much more. The rough should be 30 40 mostly so you still have a chance of hitting it fairly close. Green speed needs to be at least 20 for major comps so when you land the ball into  a slope on the green its going to fall away.

Isn;t this how real open golf is?

    So why doesn't this happen???   $$$$$$$$$$$$$ :)

Agree totally with the idea. Don't think increasing the green speeds would particularly make a huge impact though as the greens are still receptive even for the 20 and 40 green speeds, its only the roll which increases, not much in terms of firmness.

As for the fairways don't think they can change it or else they would have fairways match up to green speeds and not have fairways running the same regardless of green speeds.

I would love to see the game getting tougher, these are some good ideas, don't know if it's possible (wgt doesn't respond to constructive ideas anyway, so who cares). greenspeed 20 is problematic/unplayable on some holes with steep slopes, but something like 16-17 could do the trick.

some people in this thread voiced the opinion that tougher conditions (like shot clock, tougher greens) would benefit mediocre players. that's obviously not the case, the tougher the game the more skill is needed and the more experience you have the less time you need for every shot. so while it would make for more exciting competition at the very top, all other players only hope to qualify is having the conditions as easy as possible.

There are some obvious ideas to make the game harder:

    - erratic wind.

    - not show the wind power in numbers but with dots (like green).

    - Meter speed of 0 for all the drivers, 1-2 for all the woods.

    ...

But I don't think having a hard game is what WGT wants.

Are you sure, Joe? After all, they did make 4,5 meter wedges...

the greens need to be FIRMER more so than faster. The ball stops quickly on ultrafast 40, meaning its the firmness that's the issue, not the speed
