    Hi

I suspect it just reached the limit of how much you can choke on the club. Try other ways and it should work:)

I rarely ever choke below 7% of flop.

That's a really good answer. Cheers. I was probably 10 or 11, but it makes a bit of sense.

    whoops 7%=75% :)

Do you use backspin with the flops... I use 1/2 b/spin on the flops from the fringe and haven't had any problems (yet).

    Cheers

I do automatically on all flops. This way you know what to expect as you learn the flop and if you want to get a little more distance you can monkey with the top spin.

This is just my opinion but at 10 yards and from the fringe i find that a 64 degree wedge pitch with full backspin is a much more predictable shot for me than using a flop that close in unless it was way below the green.

So, there I am at the dreaded 9th at Kiawah. You all know the second shot. The one that plays long for no valid reason. Hit a proper length club and it comes short of the ground. Club up a touch and your 2/30ft past the hole.

From what I can tell you are about 11 yards short of flag below the hole. You hit flop about 2/3rds meter and it shanked and didn't go all the way. I suspect 2 things may have happened. 1. you choked too much on the flop. 2. you missed ding and paired off with 1. it forced the error.

Personally, I have used flop there many times and only time it backfired was when I missed meter badly. Also, from inside 11 yards u can use chip or pitch no? The 13 pitch on 50 wedge, can be choked to about 9 and it will get there.

I recommend you try and experiment shots and not just stick to one, for sometimes that experimentation will lead to better ways to manage the course

I use the flop quite a bit, and I have seen this once before.. when I missed the ding by more than a hair.

Most of the time, and usually full BS.

Unless I want my 15yd flop to go say 17yds or even a touch more.

Love the 6 and 11 yard chips, and have quite a few makes with them. I almost never putt from the fringe.

Just did a 6 foot putt from the fringe on BPB, no problems. As I said I knew it existed but after about a month ago it was gone. I cannot speak for oakmont but BPB it just worked.

Most of the time it works SGT but the bug is still very much alive.  In the past week I've had the downhill fringe putt that goes NOWHERE on every course except CABO (only played it twice since it opened)

I putt from the fringe if it isn't downhill or a place that looks suspect for a whiff.  I generally chip rather than flop unless it is a long shot in excess of 25 feet and I almost always use backspin on it.

Jake-The next time(s) you see that would you look at the distance of the ball to the edge of the fringe as best you can. I've been paranoid any time I see the caddie suggest a high scale putt when I know I can use less. Then I get to thinking about this bug a lot of players are yelling about and wind up mind-f'n myself and wind up chipping or flopping.

I did have it happen to me once but I was putting through a lot of fringe (I thought.) That's why I'm wondering if this "bug" is consistent with regards to that distance to the edge. IRL when you're on the edge of the fringe you hit with a certain amount of power. Further back you adjust this and so on. Maybe the game is trying to replicate that. What do you see?
