Lesson learned: objectification is the way forward.

Sure said that right. I can't win for losing and when ya got 2 wet hens chasing you you better just get in the loft. Oh wait, chickens can fly, better go in the house.  :-D

P.S.-You're all right and I am as wrong as you can be.  Cheating is running rampant around here and is going to ruin this game. Call the cops, cover your credits and get your kids inside.

Please keep this on topic from now on. Thank you. Any more attempts to have this thread removed by dragging it onto off topic fighting will result in a report to wgt for harassment, period.

Now now children.  Can't we all just get along?  Cheating, like quitting, is a hot-topic button for many long-time players.  The bottom-line is that cheaters do and will always exist.  However, their impact on the game as a whole is minimal.

As I stated in another thread, you'd be hard-pressed to find a cheater among the top 100 money earners.  The one cheater that was busted wasn't posting the best scores.  And, he wasn't leading the tournament when he got caught.  Suffice it to say, the best players in the game are not the ones cheating.  It's those that can't get to that level of play legitimately that are cheating to keep up.  The "winning is everything" types.

Hoolahoof had some decent suggestions.  I believe, despite being a member for only a month, that the drive behind her intent stems from her beta testing background and the fact that there are cheats for pretty much everything.  The one difference between this game and one you can buy is that the cheats are not programmed in; another program must be utilized to cheat.  Still, the meter issues need to be addressed and resolved before a major effort is put forth for cheating.

#1 would create too many issues.  WGT is striving towards a realistic game.  Swing and ball-contact timing is a part of the realism.  Moving the "sweet spot" even though minimally would create issues in meter timing that would make the game harder all the way around; there would be no consistency.  New players wouldn't last.  Consistency is what makes to great players great and the good players good.

#3 is a great idea despite the time intensive effort of monitoring that's required.  Keep in mind that any player can have a good day and ding every shot over 9 holes.  Without proper moderation this would alert WGT and that player would be flagged for simply having a good day on the course.

The cheat programs created to date are mostly specific to the meter.  The players still has to adjust for distance, pitch, and wind.  Shommy was a perfect example i.e. he was cheating and still could not win.  Again, until WGT fixes the meter the cheaters that are out there have little impact on the majority.  Example: I played a MPC with a former member that, half way through our match, said I was toast because he was using a cheat bot.  I still beat him and took his credits.  I knew the course and how to play it.  He didn't.

With the thought being out there that it's only cheating if you get caught there is a lot of research that needs to be conducted to determine the best practices for monitoring in order to catch them.  However, since it's illegal for WGT to scan the personal computers of players I don't see any fixes coming anytime soon for cheating.  As always, it on the community to catch/report them... and prove it to WGT.

You're right, Hoolahoof. I must apologize to you for being the catalyst that derailed it. I didn't take it there but my participation (trolling, as you call it) was the focal point and for that I apologize. This will be my last post on cheating because I'm realizing Cheating and Quitting are in the same vein-they're always going to be heated topics as long as new players keep joining the fray. Into the round file.........

FWIW, I don't consider auto click programs, WGT caddies, calculators, rulers, etc. cheats. They're helpers for players that might not be as adept at math, golf or clicking their mouse. The meter does a good enough job for me to make these helpers a non-problem.

Hacking into the game and writing new code is cheating. Entering cheat codes to do the same thing is cheating. The Shommy affair came close to doing this if you were computer experienced enough to understand and use it and was the first time I actually saw proof. That was last summer and that's also when I began trusting WGT to be on top of this. I believe. It's easier than distrusting.

Mr. Duffer, sir, I am old enough to have learned that giving the benefit of the doubt far surpasses the effect of giving the evil eye. It's one of those do me once, shame on you, do me twice, shame on me things.

Good luck in your quest, Hoolahoof.

    Sincerely,

    YankeeJim

The player who told you he was using a cheat bot just how good was he could he beat a hard working pro, tour pro, master, tour master?

With respect YJ, just think, if the meters were to get fixed and react the same way all the time that would even the playing field quite a bit. Then that would eliminate many of the players that are obsessed to be first in everything they do. The meter changing speed and not being smooth all the time is my biggest reason for not getting better at this game.

    Peace, Duffer

I'd have to disagree on the auto click program, I know if I had one, I'd only use it on putting and probably (assuming mere didn't glitch) take several strokes off my rounds...missing the ding on drives and approach shots don't usually cost me strokes, but for all the 6-12 footers I've missed for stopping late or early, it'd be a huge advantage (IMO).

We were both Tour Masters (TM) at the time.  He was good enough to beat the casual player.  And, he was raping his fellow CC club members of credits.  He hunted Tour Pro or less using the closer tees as their benefit, stating it was harder for him from his tees.  Unfortunately for him... he picked my favorite course; Oakmont.  He did try to quit when he realized he couldn't win.  I simply reminded him he'd lose the credits anyway so he took the whooping.  He was booted for I-forget-what; outed by his own CC members.

If there is cheats in this game then its more realistic to real life than i thought.

Reminds me of the time i was playing in the Saturday medal at my local club. After my playing partner had hit 3 off the tee, put another 1 in the water and 3 putted i looked across with pencil and scorecard in hand and asked "how many was that Frank".... "bogey 5" he replied.

He never did win any of those tournaments though.
