Doesn't seem I upset any golfers, but sure ruffled the feathers of some computer gamers, Sorry folks.

What if you're both, what does that make you? =D

I **played**(not play lol) golf for my highschool and could have played in college, and use ball/iron mapping wind formulas and putting formulas. Hmmm hmm =P

He plays on an old laptop

LOL..uh, no. You're confusing when he played on your old laptop :-)

Uh Jay...it was his old laptop.  And had he brought it out when you were with us you would have enjoyed the show as I did.  Now, he also played on my old laptop...so I definitely know the kink in my game is...well...ME.  :-)

I always had the impression he knew the game of golf and by some of the dialogue during the interface, I got an even better impression of how his mind worked. I consider him to be an exception to most rules. :-)

He did in fact play for his university's golf team...and if you've somehow begun to figure out how his mind works, well, you're a better man than me. :-)

Russel Crowe comes to mind.  ;-)

I think that just makes you a golf nerd!  LOL

Leave the pocket protector at home  : )  just kidding, whatever works and whatever gets the ball in the hole in the fewest strokes if that is what you play for...if you are playing to make friends then it doesn't matter of course...but there are many that like to compete and win credits so they don't have to sit through silly ads/commercials....

nice showing in the current VT event as well.  kudos!

Just a question, since WGT has a predetermined way of moving up tiers why would anyone be moved who didn't meet that specific requirement? After I won 2 tournys at master then tour master I was immediately moved to the next tier with virtually no ranked rounds, all my play is in practice mode testing shots, mapping clubs, learning winds etc., boring maybe but I play 18 holes or more of real golf every morning the weather is decent by myself and just test myself against the course itself, I'm not wasting my time spending hours a day playing an internet game, it's just not healthy.  In the last few years all my ranked rounds come from entering tournaments so my 59 something average has come from tough conditions, I don't think I ever won since moving up to legend tier but I'm just waiting to log on one day only to find I'm a TL but I'm not going to lower myself and shoot some bad rounds just to keep my score above the threshold.

BTW, on a side note, Tricky Dick (his screen name is a past presidents name) has the same pattern as our past prodigy mr. H  did, he waits til the very last moment to enter his score so he can show just enough of his hand.

    @RonnieCig

I don't think you need to worry about tiering up to Tour Legend by simply winning a few tournaments. If I recall correctly, one can only tier up that way through Legend tier.

Once a player gets to Legend tier, it's the same for everyone. To tier up to Tour Legend, you'll need 500 ranked rounds at Legend tier and a 60.000 or lower average.

    At least that's my understanding.

We have seen exception(s) to this, while I agree there are some criteria that are seemingly roughly followed, I believe we have observed WGT warrant or initiate a promotion based on a demonstrated mastery of the game even at the Legend tier.

I can't say how many times this has happened, but I believe we do know it has happened at least once since this thread was started.  No one can say definitively why it happened but I believe several people have observed it and commented on it.

I only know of one player who seems to fit that description. And that didn't appear to be a situation in which WGT just promoted the player to TL, without the player's input in the process.

There's some strange scores going on in the Tour Pro Merion classic.  In regards to el3n1, I believe he was referring to a guy who was promoted to TL after 160xx ranked rounds.  I find this interesting considering the player had no match play wins vs Legend players or above.  Incidently that same guy joined in Dec 2017.

There has always been the potential to Zoom up to Legend tier; based on Tournament results and Match Play.  However, at least as far as I knew, it always took 500 ranked rounds to get promoted to Tour Legend.  If you end up on WGT radar it seems like it now takes 160xx games or less.  Keep in mind we're talking Total Ranked rounds, not just Legend ranked.

    Ok. Gotcha.

But here's the thing: isn't that player disadvantaged by tiering up? The person would be playing slightly more difficult conditions and have less experience than those at that tier.

And wouldn't those at the Legend tier want to get rid of some of their competition? I'm not sure I see the issue here, other than it appears to break from what we thought it took to tier up from Legend to TL.
